NL400 FR megahuge checkraise

Villain is the Laggiest guy at the table, 21/19/10. I have been playing with an 18/14 image, and I have shown down a light 4bet with A2. I also floated him with AT and he c/c Turn and River with 88 on a 97X6X board so he is not really believing me too much at this point.

Poker Stars $400.00 No Limit Hold'em - 7 players
DeucesCracked Poker Videos Hand History Converter

SB: $402.00
BB: $280.34
UTG: $150.00
UTG+1: $972.06
MP: $192.92
Hero (CO): $730.60
BTN: $415.75

Pre Flop: ($6.00) Hero is CO with 7 6
1 fold, UTG+1 raises to $12, 1 fold, Hero raises to $38, 3 folds, UTG+1 calls $26

Flop: ($82.00) 8 Q 9 (2 players)
UTG+1 checks, Hero checks

Turn: ($82.00) A (2 players)
UTG+1 checks, Hero checks

River: ($82.00) 5 (2 players)
UTG+1 checks, Hero bets $72.00, UTG+1 raises to $388, Hero calls $316

The turn seems like such an obvious bluff card that I feel that villain could very easily bluff CR me since my range is capped after the Flop Checkback. Checking back AK feels nitty though.

As played on the river, I'm wondering whether I should be bet/calling anything? I think I can b/c with my straight since I may beat a weirdly played set but I should b/f 55 and worse since I lose to all other sets. I really think that no one ever bluffs with such a huge size.

Re: NL400 FR megahuge checkraise

I'd rather push than call against a non-believer. We never have JT here and we don't rep much, he might level himself into a call with sets and AQ.
I doubt preflop is good vs this kind of player, since you lack fold equity and therefore have to play boards such as these so cautiously. I mean, if you're too afraid betting these turns, what boards do you take a stab at against this villain?

Well, they do. And i really doubt anyone on here will advocate a fold.

Re: NL400 FR megahuge checkraise

Well this is FR and not 6max. I'm pretty sure 21 for FR is the equivalent of 28-30 VPIP in 6max. We were also deep and his c/r was super huge. I would probably ship vs a smaller raise but he looks even more polarized.

We beat 9 combos of sets and lose to 4 combos of JTs. I doubt AQ is ever calling given our line (cos we rep 55 or 67s)

Re: NL400 FR megahuge checkraise

A good general rule is that if you can see worse for value when you're facing a bet, it's almost always at least a call.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a fair amount of worse hands so that even if he somehow plays all JTo and JTs this way, it's still an easy call. Given preflop, any decent player won't have all the combos of JT.

You range looks like 55 (that you probably wouldn't reraise) or some weak Qx that you might not even be betting. It looks like you're full of it or weak, so I wouldn't be surprised to see some bluffs here.

You're worried about bet/calling here, but how often are you even betting without 55 or 76?

Re: NL400 FR megahuge checkraise

I think i'm usually giving up here with air, sometimes i might check again with a weak Ace and bet the River (fearing a turn C/R).

I'm definitely not folding 76 for sure. I'm surprised everyone said to shove it though, cos it looks more polarizing. And 55 is only a bluff catcher, I think he never plays like this with 2-pair.

Bid turn for gods sake. An A is definitely in your range. I am shipping river. Villain is never putting you on the nut straight here and I find it hard to believe he checked it twice.

Re: NL400 FR megahuge checkraise

just call river, reraising is bad vs this sizing and action
i just realized that our hand (76) is the ONLY hand im ever betting on this board with this action, if i would bluff id do it on earlier street, i cant have anything else for value (im betting Ax on turn, im not 3betting 55 pre in this spot)

Re: NL400 FR megahuge checkraise

Shoving has to be significantly better than folding. If the guy can check JT to us on all 3 streets then he can also check 88/99/QQ/AA to us on all 3 streets. Even if it is a theoretical mistake for him to call a shove with one of those sets we have to give him the opportunity to make that call in game.
