Re: MSNL'ers in San Diego

I lived in PB for a while and lived in OB for a while and I didn't really fall in love or even like with San Diego till I moved to Ocean Beach. If you want a super laid back and more alternative (read: cultured, less spring breaky) neighborhood with super friendly/cool young people and views as good as la jolla OB is definitely the place. I've left San Diego for the slopes this winter but if I had to pick a place to live till I die right now it would be OB.

Note: Live as close to the beach/cliffs as possible once u cross sunset cliffs up the hill the ocean seems miles away.

Note #2: It's a doggy paradise.

San Diego (Mission Valley) here. Just found this thread. Nice to see some guys from SD. I have an extra room at my house if anyone needs a place.

Re: MSNL'ers in San Diego

mightve already posted here but...

hi! i'm dixon and i grew up in sd. currently live in phoenix since i pseudo-go to school at ASU (only need 2 classes for a fin degree but traveling/grinding too much to finish). currently vacationing in the us virgin islands, which have nothing on san diego imo despite how nice they sound. after this trip i'll be flying to sd on aug 22nd for my sister's bday then staying for street scene the following weekend. let me know if anyone wants to meet up and party for either. not sure exactly where we're going yet for the 22nd but sounds like either pb bar and grill or somewhere downtown

Re: MSNL'ers in San Diego

I've lived by SDSU for 3 years, I lived in Mission Valley for 1 year, PB for 1 year, North PB/La Jolla for 1 year. Worst spot by far was MV, all families and zero nightlife. PB is where it's at without a doubt. You can't go wrong if you live in PB or Mission Beach or downtown. Ocean beach you will find a lot of tweakers and in general it's a pretty dirty place in my experience. La Jolla is too far away from the bars and you have to live around families who won't like you making noise at night.

As far as cardrooms go, I've had the best experience at Palomar. Indian casinos are a waste of time, I hear Ocean's eleven isn't bad, I know lurped used to go there constantly.

This thread actually is inspiring me to want to move back to SD, thx Clayton.

I would say 21-24 is PB and OB, 25+ downtown would be a rough estimation.

I'm almost 25. I used to be real ragey in college but I'm kind of over the overly fratty party scene at this time in my life. I want to be around like 21-24 yr olds when I'm out. I'm also a large fan of playing golf.

If any of you guys wanna help a brother out and ship me your aim so we can chat that'd be awesome too

downtown is a little more pompous, $12 drinks and every dude is wearing a striped shirt. def some good food and hot women down there tho. I lived down there for a year and just recently moved.

la jolla is sorta wealthy/casual older people, def not party up. I lived there for awhile and it wasnt my cup of tea. good place to live if you like hanging at home watching tv most nights.

mission beach/pb is a pretty cool area, if you want to hang out with college kids and play beer pong, this is the place. frankly I find the bar scene down there a little obnoxious, but it can be fun once in awhile.

another cool part of town no one mentioned is north park/south park. its near downtown but much more casual/cheaper rent. kind of a hipster scene, tons of great restaurants/bars tho.
