Angry Mis deal question. I'm still tilting

Last night I was playing a local 2/5 game. I was $700 deep. The first card I was dealt was a K and then my second card was exposed. It was another K. Dealer then gave me another card after everyone one else was dealt but it was a 4. The dealer used my exposed K card as the burn card. Flop comes K 10 8. I would of flopped top set. Turns out the villain flopped a set of 8's. He was about $1k deep. It happened so fast that I couldn't even think. I have a few questions.

Can I ask the dealer for me to keep the exposed K?
Is the exposed card always the burn card or is different per the house rules?

Anybody else experience this? I'm just adding this to my bad beat stories. Thanks.

I wouldn't ask the dealer to let you keep the card - your hand is quite face-up if you do (at the very least, once you hit the K they know you have at LEAST a pair of kings). If they can't beat the pair, you won't get paid as the hand progresses.

Using the exposed card makes sense as the burn card, but I'm sure it is different depending on where you play. That's how they do it at my local poker room.

It's unfortunate that it happened, but since we play a game that revolves around a lot of luck, I'm sorry that you had some that was bad.

that was unlucky...

you can not keep the card. you were just unlucky... you always get dealt a new card and that K is always the burn card. it is just human error, there is nothing you can do.
but the thing with local games is, most of the Dealers are not very skilled, simply because there is usually no one to teach them. local games usually are the softest games there are. for that you have to compromise in other areas.

This is the rule pretty much everywhere. The dealer dealt the hand correctly after the exposed card. Sometimes that stuff just happens, especially if it hit a player's hand that they had hanging over the rail.

yeah pretty much nothing happened. It's as likely as it being the other way around you would have 88 and the other guy has KK. So just move on if that happens and act like its just a normal hand.

Re: Mis deal question. I'm still tilting

I was dealt aces and then I heard the words no one ever wants to hear when they are they dealt aces, MISDEAL, I sat there in complete disbelief.

The dealer requested that I return my cards after 10-20 seconds of delay I finally relinquished my cards, but not before violently flicking them at the dealer, they end up bouncing off the dealer and the whole table saw how unlucky I am. Usually not one to get mad about mistakes but I knew I over reacted in this instance. So I collected myself, stood up, grabbed my chips, tipped the dealer $1 and left like a complete boss.

No need to be mad. Unless your quitting poker soon. Your going to have plenty of times to do that. Just keep grinding away. Don't let little things bother you.

That is not a boss moved. It shows you have not played enough hours of poker, and don't realize unfortunate things like this happen. Do u think the dealer meant to do this? You are slowing the game not relinquishing your hand.

Wow you guys have a better temperament than me. I would be pissed at the luck, and would need to step away for a while... would be hard for me not to tilt after that
