Also, people are so lol in estimating profits.
- consistant number of tables?
- consistant number of hours?
- vacation time?
- burn outs?
- tilt?
yeah but i bet that 100% rb is easy to estimate

This means not only is he one of the best players at midstakes, he's also one of the biggest grinders.

This means that 500K at midstakes is completely UNrealistic.

Your point about massgrinders being bad and good players being lazy illustrates this.
Damn, that's a debate ender if I've ever seen one.

most good players are lazy and most massgrinders are terrible
This might be the nr.1 reason why he is GOOD ( Good = winning money right?)

It has been over 5 years since I quit school and I am still very thrilled with the decision. I'd be verrrrry surprised if I don't have the same sentiment in another 5 years. I'm definitely not saying everyone should quit school. Some people are built for poker... some aren't.

Optimal hand numbers per month are 100% player dependent. Personally I've done both grinding out 100k + hands per month and played 45k hands a month 4 tabling for 25 hours a week. I've found the later works better for me. I'm prone to tilt and need to play short sessions or I begin to lose my mind. This may sound crazy to some of u but 2 hours at a time the max I can play without having my play deterorate significantly.
Also I think it is important to have a well balanced life that includes lots of social time and excersise regularly. I've grinded out tons of hands and it doesnt work for me. Id encourage u guys to try playing short sessions with your A game and see where that takes u.
Over the past 22 months Ive run at over 5ptbb/100 playing 5/10 and 3/6 nl
Over how many hands? screenname or graph plz?

come on

Poker is very exhausting I know but if you have good schedule/workout regularly/eat healthy you will feel better physically and grinding for 100hours/month shouldnt be a problem.

If I can do it everbody can.
I agree 100%. So many of us here are ****ing lazy brats it's ridiculous

completely disagree. Depends on your poker level right now and what your plan is in life and how it's currently running.

If you're gonna smoke weed and play poker all day, then stay in school.

If you want to smoke weed and play poker all day for the rest of your life...well...at least talk it over w/a few friends :P

If you want the chance to do something amazing and get involved in other activities that you never had the time for, then do it. Create a longterm plan with what you want from this game and how you want to run your future. If it's reasonable, go for it. Just realize you can't be lazy about this game or else you'll turn into the guys who are saying "DON'T DROP OUT"

Not to mention if you look at empirical evidence you would see that not many are doing what you say is "easy" to do. That is not to say it is not easy for you to do but don't assume other players posses the same aptitudes you do. For me personally, I have done just about everything imaginable in an effort to improve my game and while my results are respectable it has been a very humbling experience. And yes, I do envy the talent some players seem to naturally posses.
this is a really great assessment. I've seen how hard the guy works and wish I had his drive back when I started out.

I disagree about people working "hard". C'mon, you saw how many hands I used to put in :P

Who are these 500K MSNLers you're talking about? Leatherass cleares 500K but he plays 10/20 as well.
I think 500k is also a stretch but 300k in your early 20s is friggin amazing. Do something smart with it and you've got a great headstart on life.
