Re: Mid Stakes for a Living

Meh I dropped out of school I think a lot of people drop out when they're not making nearly enough but you can always go back and you can still live your life in such a way where you still have the college lifestyle and social life.

People don't make 500k a year at midstakes because generally if theyre good enough to make that much they'll just move up and make it at higher stakes in a lot fewer hours. So i mean even arguing about making 500k a year at midstakes seems dumb since your goal shouldn't be to make 500k a year at midstakes but instead make enough and get good enough to move up past 2/4-5/10 if you have aspirations of making a ton of money.

I was hating my life at my school, did not have a good social group, was failing a lot of my classes anyway and was generally feeling very down.

dropping out let me live my life how i wanted, make tons of new friends, live life to the fullest, spend time working out and playing poker and sitll having time to do what i want, and at what price? OH yeah, i would no longer have to pay my own way in tuition and etc.

So basically when you are doing something that is going to be on your own dime that you dont even enjoy, its much better to work elsewhere. Its not like im a top poker player or soemthing, but through winnings/backing/rakeback, i make way more then i possible could even with a degree. I think most people who stay in school and say dropping out is a huge mistake just do it to look cool.

Still, we're talking about the absolute prime of MSNL, who are also the sickest grinders. Saying this is 'realistic' for a 'solid grinder' is a far out statement.
nanonoko is not especially good
he is just solid doesnt spew much and grinds a ton

the thing is
most good players are lazy and most massgrinders are terrible

I didn't say he was especially good; there are many HSNL players who are better than him. But he is the prime of MSNL. He's raking 4.00 ptbb at 2/4 for 900K hands (BEFORE rakeback). He's raking 3.48 ptbb at 3/6 for 250K hands (before rakeback).

This means not only is he one of the best players at midstakes, he's also one of the biggest grinders.

This means that 500K at midstakes is completely UNrealistic.

Your point about massgrinders being bad and good players being lazy illustrates this.

Solid way to irrefutably solve this, imo.

I definitely agree it is good for some people, but I'd say it isn't for the other 99%. This is why I want you to impress me and come back in 5-10 years and still feel the same way!

Also, people are so lol in estimating profits.
- consistant number of tables?
- consistant number of hours?
- vacation time?
- burn outs?
- tilt?
