great read AE. I am definitely at the milestone where I am FPS (fancy play syndrome). The other day I 3bet then 5 bet shoved a tilted player with QJ off. ran into QQ lol. my win rate is at about 30/hour playin a mix of 2-5 and 5-10 nlhe live. And I keep wondering if it can drastically increase if I didn't take such high variance lines. My biggest leak is being too fancy and as hard as I try to not push the small edges I keep being tempted to.

Great read - very motivational and humbling.

Highly recommended for all players whether experienced or not. Esp agree on the last part about a life outside of poker as recently, it has taken over my life but your essay was a really good reminder there are other important things!

thanks for the deep insight.

Randomly ran into this thread and it's incredibly insightful. I know I'm late but it deserves a year+ bump imo

Thanks for the wise words, Im just now starting to move up in stakes playing live. Im a rec player but take poker very seriously, and at most 2/5 tables here in vegas there is a lack of players that actually do any studying off table. I feel like I have an edge over anyone who has never heard of Equilab, Flopzilla Etc... Would that be a safe assumption?

Also now You have given me the courage to go Play 5/10 tonight with my $3000 Bankroll!!

Sike.

3 buy-ins isn't very good bankroll management.

This is 100% a hole I've noticed in my game as of late.

The final milestone of the tag and lag back and forth mile stone is realizing you can play lag on one table tag on another and Nit on another because that is what is optimal for that table you are on.

Would like to elaborate on this...

Its like the old kung fu movies. You use Tiger Vs a Crane style and the Dragon against the Tiger style etc.

For someone who is agressive pre you flat and reraise. For someone who is passive pre you raise em. Agro post- you check call, passive post, you raise. Seems easy enough.

I thought your post was great. I think it must of been extemely difficult for you too condense those concepts into one post. It was very enlightning to me. I continue to be amazed at the " layers of an onion" this game has. I always refer to the learning process as "You don't know wwhat you don't know."
