Did I make a bad call? Did I make a bad call?

Hi,

Only 26 players left out of 400+ MTT in Stars - 6max 27$ Hyper. UTG player seems to be descent but I don't really have any reads. As you can see in the hand history I called his 14bb shove with A9 with 10bb. Did I make a bad call? 14BB is quite a lot of chips for a hyper (slightly below average) and after thinking about the hand I just did not see UTG shoving anything worse than mine... Especially UTG, with several players left to act and close to the FT and big money. I just couldn't fold my suited A with only 10bb and blinds approaching quickly... At the time i was quite disappointed with my call.

What do you guys think? THX

with 10bbs and ITM already I would probably call also. its probably borderline just because he is UTG. 60/40 towards call I would say. If we were on the money bubble or on the FT bubble then I would fold.

I am not sure if it's a auto call though because even though I have a strong hand and I do not have a lot of blinds, do you think Villain is shoving anything worse in this position? Sure, small pairs. At best I am a 50/50 which I am of course willing to take but I am beat quite often... He has quite a lot of chips for a Hyper MTT and he can definitely wait if he doesn't have a strong enough hand to insta shove UTG. he also has two bigger stacks infront of him left to act.

The problem is that if I fold I am left with very little chips. However, it does go very quickly in Hyper's and if I win one all in after that I am basically back in the running. That's something we could calculate... Will I have enough time to wait for an average hand? If I am the one who shoves I can do it much lighter though.

Interested to hear your opinion or others as well?
