I say we should well be defending >52% in the BB as long as we are losing less than 1BB (which equals a fold). He thinks we should not be defending more hands than the BU opens because he thinks it won't be profitable.
This assumes an roughly equal level of skill both of Hero and BU.
Both answers can be right, your correct about the call needing to >-1BB, but this doesn't mean that the cutoff hand can be below the 52th percentile of hands. In general tho, given that we get 3-1 on a call I think we can defend very wide here vs minbets and most likely wider then 52%, but its hard to proof this in any way.
