I agree with you that by the river I was priced in to call. I may have become overly risk averse when I thought too deeply into what he may have turned.
I meant I'm check/calling on the turn after being min raised on the flop. On the flop, I'm bet/calling almost 100% of the time. 3 betting that flop out of position puts you in dicey situations on the turn and river with both scare cards or not.
Yes the 9c is a scare card, but you can't automatically assume this hits his range mainly due to the flop min raise. In my experience, the majority of the time a min raise on that the flop means weak pair type hands. Players at this level are more likely to call on draws than min raise them. If the villain flopped a set, two pair, or straight he's either likely to raise bigger on the flop or wait until the turn to raise.
