99 short stacked utg+1 facing 5BB utg raise

Short stacked, 30BB. Whats your play fold or shove? Certainly can't just call, right? Is this an easy fold

If you think UTG's range includes stuff like AJ then you should shove here

K, thanks. Got crushed tonight in that spot ended up being against JJ and was called my my shove. In another spot i had the button with a short 25BB and it went utg+2 raise 5bb and call, call, call, i shoved JJ and everyone called! Of course It didn't hold up

You wish!! I'm a fishcake! I shoved 99 in that spot. You're right though i could have just called if i was deeper and re evaluated flop or fold to 3bet/call. maybe i buy deeper from now on. 30 buy ins should be good if i dont eat

Re: 99 short stacked utg+1 facing 5BB utg raise

This is a fold vs 3bb raise in reasonable game (all players have a clue) because there are 4 for more players to act who will play more or less perfectly vs you (they know utg range is tight so utg+1 shove is very tight). Even TT would be a fold if UTG range is 14-15% as it usually is.
Now the question is what the guy is doing with his 5bb raise. You can assume he is a fish and randomly spazzes with this big raise in which case 99 is close shove or that he is applying some non-retarded strategy in which case it's easy fold (general rule is that against bigger bets/raises you may play tighter than against small ones and not be worse off).

Buy for w/e you want. If you don't understand 30bb shoving you have no business playing 100bb game unless you feel like donating.
