Hi guys - very new to poker, trying to learn at 2NL. Just wondering what sort of range a tight reg is making this move with and was I correct to fold? Is this always a boat/trips or can it be some kind of weird bluffing range given his range strongly represents these hands?

Cheers.

In poker we bet because of 2 reasons: value ( to get called or raise by worse), bluff ( to get better hands to fold), and/or those 2 are accomplished by taking the dead money on the pot at that moment (if it exists).

What worse hands do you expect this Villian to call with OTT? this spot that was even a multiway pot OTF, in the other hand you are not folding a better hand, so bluffing is not a reason for betting neither.

So, because I cannot find a good reason for betting again OTT, Id check, and well, I dont find V is floating very often on this spot and/or I dont think he's gonna be valuebetting a worse hand there, so if he bets Id just fold. Next hand...

I would bet smaller OTF, like 1/2 pot. There is no point in big bet becouse it's a very dry board.

When he calls your c-bet his range contain all pocket pair hands, Jx hands, and sometimes A high hands. I dont see much value in betting ott. Instead I prefer x/c here and let him bet his bluffs.

AP good fold.
