I've never actually seen frankie do anything like this but I can't say it surprises me.......he'll get what's coming to him though, and I think it was probably smart to let the 2k slide for now. As someone who plays in this game a handful of times per year I am pretty discouraged by this story and would certainly sign something on your behalf if you put a petition together. Good luck HEK, and merry xmas everyone

yo what if EVERYONE who was near foxwoods made it a point to walk in and just walked up to the gaming floor and was like yo im a mirrionaire but your poker room treats people like **** so im taking my degen business elsewhere

sound stupid, but the pokerroom sort of 'only exists' to cater to bringing people to the casino, and if the higher ups started to realize that the poker people were THAT incompetent, they might clean some house/ make them get their **** together/ threaten to beat some ass?

I know, I even said as much.

Yeah, this is probably right, it turns out that this is actually pretty easy to get the court to enforce, you'd probably need an affidavit from someone who was at the table.

Only problem is by the time you get a lawyer to help you they normally eat through your cut anyway.

if you need the lawyer to do absolutely everything then yes it probably wouldn't be economical

but, like i said, in 30 min he should be able to tell you everything you need to do, and that should not cost you more than $100

if you have any acquantice with a law professor, he would help you out for free since this is the kind of bizarre case that contracts profs love and email each other about heh

fwiw i've never played at foxwoods but this is how it works in California. i'd imagine its the same in nearly every poker room.
This seems a little over the top, but basically correct. In my experience, just tipping a little better than other regs (more in line w/ the tourists) and tipping whenever they do something for you (like at some places, nobody really tips the chip runners, but obviously you should), coupled with extending basic human respect and courtesy is enough to make everyone who works in the place like you.

HEK, sorry Man. This blows, and I really hope you get re-instated. I think that it's very likely Frankie either explicitly called in a favor or that some staff involved are very friendly with him. Good luck and try to enjoy your holidays.

Hate to be a bit of a sour apple but FTR halting a 10-20 game to work out some elaborate equity deal for a paltry $5k pot is a bit inconsiderate to the other players at the table. Imagine how terribly slow the games would be if everyone was logging onto their blackberries to figure out their equity everytime they're all-in going into the river. Not to mention the decrease in action as well as the collusion factor that come with rampant dealmaking in live poker. There are good reasons why poker rooms don't allow this and for the most part its in the players best interest that they continue to have such rules.

Anyways the outcome of all of this is very unfortunate for you OP, though i'm sure if you remain level-headed, persistent and determined you'll find justice and be allowed back at Foxwoods.

it's not HEK's fault that the floor allowed him to make a deal when they claim it's not allowed. and you cant blame someone for wanting to make a deal when they're playing higher stakes than they normally do. i agree deal making slows down the games a ton and i get pretty annoyed when players do it all the time, but every once in a while it seems alright

I obviously agree that this ruling sucks, and you handled it in a more mature fashion than most would have. That being said, I think that going over to Frankie's table and starting an argument is what got you banned as a matter of fact, not the equity chop.

Needless to say, doing equity chops with strangers on the side isn't worth it if there is even a 2% of this kind of crap happening, especially since I assume this pot is not a meaningful amount of money to you in the grand scheme. Also, does it suit your table image to be perceived as a guy that does business in big pots?

OT hypothetical cause I have no idea how this live poker stuff works and am curious: You show the guy the equity calc and then someone pipes in with "I folded two diamonds", does that change anything in your dealmaking?

didn't read most of the replies so maybe someone covered this.. but did you try getting the FM who said this to vouch for you that it was in fact under his permission that you did the chop..? Or at least plead that he did not do his job in informing you of the illegality of it.. (if he decides not to help defend you..)

The transition to live poker kinda happened naturally. I didn't post very good results in 2008 for online poker and it was getting somewhat disheartening. But every time I played live, I killed it (LDO cuz live poker is el oh el). By playing live I could still have a very good hourly, less variance and stay off life tilt. So I continued to play live and less and less online and stayed happy that way. There are a couple of people over the last several months who tried to help me succeed more in online poker. I'd like to thank them publicly here but can't for a few diff reasons. You know who are though.

Sup hek, welcome to the club :P

I was banned from Foxwoods for playing underage back when I was 20... I believe it was in November of last year now. Went to court for it actually and ended up paying a $90 fine for trespassing. They told me to write a letter asking for reinstatement when I turn 21, which I in fact did in late June of this year. I got a letter back in a few weeks that said I had to wait another 6 months to write another letter, with no explanation besides "We have reviewed your case carefully and decided to not allow you reinstatement at this time". Meh. I'm gonna write them back very soon and hopefully get back there and crush. Gl with this whole situation though, that really sucks man.

I'm writing a letter to foxwoods which should be finished within the next day or so. I'm sending that regardless of any other move I may make in conjunction with it.

What should my NEXT move/moves be? Many of you provided some excellent advice. So should I...

Start an online petition? (do you REALLY think this will do any good?)

Hire a lawyer to contact foxwoods?

Call the gaming commission (or have a lawyer do so)?

I need to make sure my next step is the right one. I don't want to piss them off and make them ignore my case for 3 years. It's a fine line I think.
