But if post is a non-content link, that's not great either.
BUT- Laughs and Links is obviously not a forum where that post is going to find it's intended audience- it's just not a poker heavy forum.
Is there maybe some solution- an NVG thread or something, where people could just post links free of context that might be of interest?
The problem is just that there are thousands (maybe tens of thousands?) of people who want to post their link in NVG. Many of them don't think of their personal link as spam, but if a decent fraction of them were allowed to post them, NVG would just become a spam forum. Giving them one thread to post in would just make one useless unreadable thread in NVG.
That said, there obviously are some links that are worth posting in NVG. So, we necessarily have to make judgement calls about whether the link is interesting enough to people. And, I think that when Krantz posts something like that, it's probably worth the benefit of the doubt. I mean.. he's ****ing Krantz. IMO, PP should not have moved the thread. But, whatever, people screw up and that's why you can PM moderators/post in ATF. I'd like to think that if FE or JC had responded in basically any way other than the way that they did, the thread would've been moved back.
I also think that a lot of the mods have an attitude that tends to encourage people's paranoia that we're the internet equivalent of power-drunk cops or something. While we can't totally prevent that, I think we could do a lot more there.
