I have found another culprit besides zedo. Sometimes the avatars get stuck and take a long time to load. So the thread loads, but doesn't jump to the last read post (which happens after the entire page and images load apparently).
My punch-up point and scroll mechanism on my mouse suddenly stopped working right today. It still works ok at the forum level but inside threads the punch-up reference symbol quickly disappears. I have the same problem on sites with a lot of ads and videos that keep appearing. As far as I can tell the same 2+2 ads are at the forum level as inside the threads. So I'm mystified.
It's a conspiracy; all linked to Brexit and Merkel. I'm sure the vile French are involved in some way but you didn't hear that from me. Also the Swiss. They are in on everthing and noboby even notices.
Burn your computer and go live in a cave. It's the only way to save yourself and remain sane.
the website is goofy on my phone as of late. items do not load fully, leaving strange icons in places they normally aren't. reloading my subscription page, for example, looks slightly different each time.
currently there is a .gif stuck on the quick reply taskbar in place of the color of font selected. i think everything to the right of it is shifted over one as well- IMG icon brings up the spoilers, and hyperlink activates quotes.
On Tapatalk and this is slowest it's ever been for me. Took me 6 seconds to get ATF to load and 4 tries to get this thread to load. Most threads I've been waiting 30+ seconds, trying again, and then giving up.
In either case the limiting factor performance-wise is going to be your data store.
Personally I think node scales better development-wise, as in if your site gets huge it's a lot easier to separate concerns and add global or semi-global behaviors to each request with node.
