Re: When did mocking handicapped children become acceptable?
There are tons of subforums here at 2+2. What is allowed in one may not be allowed in others. The beauty is that you don't have to read them all. You can browse and choose which subforums to frequent. Ragging on 2+2 in its entirety because of one subforum that does not meet ones standards is like getting mad at a cable company for offering a soft-porn channel. You don't have to watch it. You don't have to visit those subforums.
My decision to give the OP a hard time was not based on his past (although I think all my posts in this thread were about his prior banning but the real jab there was to the mods decisions to let him continue to post). The OP came in here looking to stand on some moral high ground and then immediately degenerated to flinging insults and trying to play the "I was just trolling" card. "Stop posting pictures of handicapped people, you retard!" I mean, come on.
My point, though, is that no one is forcing you to take part in the forums which allow crude behavior, and they generally have other subforums where you can discuss pretty much the same subject matter in a grown-up fashion.

However, in all fairness we have to keep some things in mind.
1. The owners of this site are not exactly role models, or even necessarily decent human beings. They might be, but that is not really the point. And in fact, I think those of us who have been around a few years know enough to make our own decision on this matter. They are running a business to make money, period, and will do what they feel to be in that best interest, period.
2. Most of the mods of this forum, who I guess theoretically are supposed to be responsible "managers" are for the most part 20-30 year old immature little kids. The vast majority of the mods I have interacted with, I would not trust them to run a lemonade stand or watch my pet goldfish for the night.
So I think it is important to have perspective and keep these points in mind when we see the distressing amount of low class behavior in these forums.
Edit: Also, FWIW Microbob is the mod I have given the most grief to, but I actually think he is ok, even if most of his posts and messages are so long and boring I cannot get through them.
MB, if you see this post I just want you to know I wasn't referring to you this time, and you would be one of the few mods I would trust to watch my goldfish.

I really doubt anyone gives 2 ****s about your opinion. Mods here do a very good job, take a lot of crap, and for no pay. And they have to deal with idiots like you.
Go post in the lounge or any of like a dozen sub forums where people discuss things in a civil manner. Complaining about a few juvenile boards that exist SOLELY to contain the juvenile **** is beyond idiotic. If they did not exist, this entire site would become retarded. Imagine if 4L was unleashed into strat forums or EDF. Chaos would ensue.

First they came for the communists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew.
Then they came for me
and there was no one left to speak out for me.

Re: When did mocking handicapped children become acceptable?
LOL system of a down.
If you don't insta laugh or at least find humor in things like this you either have absolutely no sense of comedy or just hate life/are a life nit.
Its one of the two for OP, there are no other options.
Go watch Louis CK comedy on youtube and then compare it to how tame a simple captioned retard picture is.

I think your use of the term "juvenile" is inappropriate, as I would expect any juvenile to have higher standards of decency than are exhibited in these boards. If I ever caught my son making down syndrome jokes I would kick the **** out of him, and he would know he deserved it, because I would teach him beforehand correctly how to behave himself as a human being.
Maybe all the "juvenile" posters in this forum did not have any guidance growing up, so noone taught them how to be a decent human being. I donno.

You are probably right. I probably just do not have a sense of humor and am a life nit.

Yeah. They all need "guidance" in the form of getting the **** kicked out of them.
Or you know, parents could instead be grown ups and teach them to respect others through understanding empathy, not the fear of the back of daddy's hand.

It's the nature of the entire internet, and these boards are mild by comparison. What you are doing is like jumping into a rowboat and complaining loudly when a wave splashes you.

Obviously, corporal punishment will be a last resort. But that is not the point. The point is that I will be very dissapointed if any son of mine ever thinks it is acceptable to make down syndrome jokes on the internet, and I will do my best to raise him to be a better human being than that.

Missed opportunity here. If you're going to make an idiotic comparison to genocide, at least mention the Nazi eugenics program.

I am not here to lead him by his hand and walk him through life, just wanted to give him a little something to think about.

Mhm, you're quite a role model.
Translation: I'll kick the **** out of my son but making down syndrome jokes is where I draw the line.
Brilliant

Again, you guys are focusing on minutiae and missing the point. I will assume you are just being disengenious, and your goal post shift just indicates you agree with me for the most part.
