hi I'm "the velour fog", I have around 3500 posts and post mostly in ssnl/msnl, and I too dont have access to the e-mail that I signed up with. I'm pretty sure the e-mail is: bosskarel@hotmail

obviously I know the old password that needs to be changed if that could be used as proof? my only claim to fame on 2+2 is once making a 5 star thread in bbv called "I think I just destroyed someones bankroll".

would suck to not be able to get my account back

I'm having the same issue. My old name is JayA with no space, and 2p2 claims that my username is Jay A. JayA has 3.1k posts, and I have my trading rep on that name. Any idea why this changed or what I can do? Just email mods/support and see what's up?

It almost certainly means that you've registered more than one account with 2+2, and the email address you supplied is the one for your "other" account.

No one's changed anything. Presumably you had more than one account and have supplied the email address for the wrong one.

I'm that greedy I don't create any gimmicks. I want to get a maximally big post count.

And it helps me not to soil my reputation too easily. I will have to live with my posts forever

Are there any mods reading this that have been around long enough to know Patrick del Poker Grande? Yeah, that's me and I feel like that's been established. PM me a pwd or at least the e-mail it's linked to? I'm pretty surprised that I didn't get an e-mail for that account.

Anyway I can transfer this email to my old account?

Old account is LastLife.

Confirmed on twitter, gonna see if I can get someone from PL to confirm that it is me.

So is the consensus that if we don't have access to the email address associated with our 2p2 account, and we aren't coming to Vegas, that we are SOL? Or is there a possibility that we might eventually be able to verify our information in some way? Really bummed about losing my marketplace history.

Also, how is it going to work when all these new accounts start trading funds using accounts that are tied to other (inactive) 2p2 accounts?

Am I going to be banned for trying to trade funds since all of my poker accounts are tied to my old 2p2 account?

People should be incredibly suspicious at first just to be safe. It's better to take 30 minutes extra to do a trade safely than rush into doing one and be scammed. People should be re-reading the 'how to avoid being scammed' guides in the Internet Poker money transfer thread to refresh their memories.

For you specifically; have pm's enabled to be able to trade, sit at the table on a poker site showing the money you have, link to your previous 2+2 account. If your Ip's match up to your previous account a mod may even post that in the thread if you ask, which would give you increased respectability. We may be really busy with other stuff though, just have to see what happens.

Not at all a workable solution on some IP networks, but it might work for some if TPTB deem it so.

mat,

i can't pm you from this old gimmick that somehow got linked to my email instead of my real account.

i did the 'email mat sklansky' under your contact form. if you could get back to me that would be great, and if you somehow didn't get the email let me know, thanks.

I finally got the password reset email (two copies) that I generated last night that were sent to my aol.com id. They were delivered to my spam folder about 12 hours late. Clicked on the link, it reset the password, and the mail with the new password was delivered within 10 minutes (again, to the spam folder).

But it worked.

LOL at those who think aol.com is a worse place to send throwaway email than any other free email provider. Yeah, your shiny Hotmail userid carries so much greater cachet.

I know it sucks, but patience is the key right now.
I fail to see how a link to a post saying I shipped money from an online poker account with a corresponding screen shot of that online poker account cashier's screen showing the name and email address I'm communicating with Mat Sklansky from isn't definitive proof I am who I say I am (with the said email in the background).

Anyways ZBTHorton said he pm'ed Mat, so I'll wait.

Have to ask, why are you using this account if you received your reset info?

It sounds like the head people are going to get to everyone who has definitive proof of who they are and their 2p2 account name is very likely to get their original account restored, but I think some people need to calm down.

I have no idea how many people are trying to handle this right now, but I'm going to guess that there are hundreds if not thousands of people trying to get their accounts restored, and probably no more than a handful of people trying to help them resolve it.

If you have proof and have sent it in, there's not much else you can do accept wait. I know that sucks, we've all been waiting two weeks for 2p2 to come back up, but another day or two isn't going to kill anyone.

I'm 663366(msnl/hsmtt reg since 2008 with almost 3k posts) and can't log in because I don't remember which email I used to register and most likely that email is no longer accessible anyway. 2p2's procedure here is very very problematic for the following reasons:

- A lot of us don't know any mod's well enough
- There are plenty of mods who have been involved in scams(eg. Cornell Fiji and some others) so I'm surprised that's a method at all
- We don't log on from the same IP every week let alone every month... professional poker players frequently travel for tournaments worldwide
- You are asking us to travel to Las Vegas NV USA at our expense to provide a copy of our ID for your safekeeping when 2p2 has just demonstrated a lack of ability to safeguard our information that led to the Apr 26 shutdown

What should happen here, is 2p2 should:

1) Make public just who when from where accessed what and did what with what, ie. completely detail the security breach
2) Detail what has been done, in technical terms, to fix this as well as other security problems
3) Apologize that this occurred at all(shocked that this hasn't been done already.. this is a free-of-charge forum we are all grateful for, but a ton of people make their living partially through 2p2's Marketplace for eg. and have not been able to make their living during this time)
4) Explain why 2p2 doesn't adopt what most other sites do when it comes to registration as in the setting up of secret security questions and answers, which would have allowed us to get back in under our original accounts without the current problem/this thread.

Users who don't remember or can't access the email addresses they used years ago to register should not be blamed. A lot of us actually periodically change active email address, say every year or two, TO BE SECURE. As professional online poker players we know that email addresses, login names, IM names, etc, are used by scammers all the time to scam other poker players. The safest way is not to periodically change passwords, but periodically change active email addresses and only let closest friends know. For taking that extra security we are now not able to log into 2p2 when it's 2p2's own lack of security that led to this. So the posters who can't log in should not be blamed at all. We are the victims here and need to get our reputable, original 2p2 names back. That's all it is.

Once again, we are quality posters who've made your forum the success it has been over the years. We should not have to leave a copy of our ID with you when you are not being transparent at all and have only shown an inability to safeguard our information. A lot of people are greatly affected FINANCIALLY by this shutdown and the inability to get back into their original accounts where a lot of data is kept. A lot of people I bet, also have valuable friendships that existed in their Inboxes that they don't communicate with outside the 2p2 Inbox. I know I do. We are all awaiting a much more professional response from 2p2. Two and a half weeks of no-detail is way too long and too little info given. Twoplustwo is a market-leader in the poker industry and market leaders in every other industry would respond to a website breach immediately and transparently or lose all their customers.

Sincerely,

663366

That very well may be something we end up using in some cases, but being a manual process, it's not going to happen overnight if we do this.

I was more referring to the rest of your post lambasting the overall email password reset procedure. If anyone has a better suggestion for an automated process, we're all ears.

Anyway, yeah, patience is key right now. What you sent sounds reasonable, but I didn't see it myself so I don't know if there was some problem, or it just might be a matter of Mat being inundated ATM.

We'd obviously rather that everyone get their original account restored than not, but we're just being cautious right now (perhaps overly so in some cases) to make sure we don't hand some long-term account to a scammer. I'm sure the handful of serial scammers we get in the trading threads and Marketplace will be looking to take advantage of the current situation any way they can. This isn't like a one-off case where someone PMs us because they can't log in; in this case, what's happened is very public, so we need to anticipate the predators.
