What should users do if they don't have their account email? (READ THE FIRST POST!)

Hello,

I did the request new password thing and all.

But the email I received wasn't to my username.

I still followed the directions and everything because I have no other way to post. Well I guess I could figure out a way to do something different. But this is the easiest way.

Unless I'm mistaken ... there's a problem with the email to username mapping.

May be I'm just an idiot and can't follow directions.

Anywho, can a moderator help me out at their convenience? I don't want to post my real username here. Moderator should be able to figure out what email address is associated with this username and what my real username is (I hope).

Am I supposed to just change my username within this account?

I seem to remember a username "callingisfunner" though. At the moment I've hijacked his account. But it's unintentionally intentional. I will never do any harm to anyone.

Dear 2p2 Mods,

I would hugely appreciate access to my old account 'john kane' (no underscore).

I set it up in 2004 and have been a regular poster since then with around 4,300 posts.

When I went to reset my password using email address chrisharveyv"@"hotmail.com it turns out I set up this account john_kane in 2006.

My john kane account I expect is linked to ch48"at"st-andrews.ac.uk that I no longer have access to (old university account) or v_1984"at"hotmail.com that is an expired hotmail account.

If a mod could please change the email address chrisharveyv"@"hotmail.com from john_kane to john kane so I can reset my password I would be hugely grateful (or PM me a password for john kane).

it's definitely more secure to have your account tied to an email address that you have no control over than one that you do

Man this is horrible! I can't recover my password because the e-box I used for my main account (Ratamahatta) is an university e-box. And since I already graduated, I don't have an access to it. I made that account in 2005, I don't want to lose it!
