I was a moderator before this happened. When I got the e-mail about the hacking I permanently deleted both of my e-mail accounts that may have been associated with 2+2. Whoops.

I did, however, in a specific thread post a different e-mail address for people to contact me (for a specific reason). I just changed the e-mail address associated with this temporary account to that e-mail address.

Maybe I could verify my identity with that e-mail address? I can provide the thread in which I posted it and I sent and received several e-mail addresses to and from other 2+2 members with it.

So you know that you specifically are being targeted. Doesn't change the fact that you should've changed your registration email a long ass time ago if you don't have access to the email account.

swinging for the fences here, but being the quick-thinker that i am, i have proof that i am eltbus by extending further on a post i made a couple months ago. (besides the fact the hacker wouldn't want any of my assets, or the lack there of).

i posted in mttc, and occasionally in oot and se. in mttc, there's a dog thread where you post pictures of your dogs. i posted some on my old account, and just recently uploaded more pictures. unless the hacker somehow broke into my house, found more pictures of my dogs and uploaded them, and then took my dog to the vet and put him down, then it's the same guy (me) on the account. if you think he/she did in fact do those things, bravo.

Since we can't send pm's - just posting here. I am dakota-xx here and would like to have this account merged with that account. I don't have a valid email address on my dakota-xx account but can be verified by a couple of mods. (Don't remember the exact id's they use here but it is Katie Dozier aka hotjenny314 and Katie Stone aka Katie75013). Both friends irl.

Is this good enough or should I contact them outside of the forum?

Hey, I'd like to be able to access my old account. I normally post under Paul McSwizzle, mostly in the politics forum and occasionally in Sporting Events and elsewhere.

-krmont22: I currently have a bet with him about the Presidential election in the fall. I have Obama laying 2:1

-suzzer99: He's also a reg in the politics forum. I made a joke about him and his trainer, a reference any politics forum reg would remember. I also told he was part of a self-loathing generation (baby boomers) and he said he wasn't that old.

-FlyWF: I believe fly is a mod, so this would probably be the most helpful. We post relatively similar views in the politics forum. Recently he posted something about Obama and medical MJ raids, and I said I was surprised to see him take that view.

Vassil: Doesn't have any posts (like 30?) but has like an 05 reg date. I lived with him.

LirVa: We both post in politics quite a bit. I PMed him once thinking he was a girl.

a suggestion on how could could bypass these problems.

Eg: user John (uname=john123) is registered with email "oldJohnMail@yahoo.com"

He could go to a page, enter his username and get something like this (mixed dummy and real emails, splitted):

oldJohnMail@xxx
JDoe1@xxx
pokerz_@xxx

xx@yahoo.com
xx@gmail.com
xx@web.de

He can easily determine his own mail address but you don't really violate privacy either, as you don't say which mail address belongs to who.

If you think it is too obvious, you could salt the data, so for example "olXJohnXail" instead of oldJohnMail. It will still be fairly easy to see it for the actual user, and almost impossble for spambots etc

Anyway, just a suggestion

I'm not super concerned with getting it fixed immediately because I'm just happy to have 2+2 again, but I am affected by this problem. Signed up for 2+2 on a job email and never changed it, left the job and now I have no access to it.

diddyeinstein is my main account. i don't know people who know mat personally but i've never been very secretive about this being an account i have used in the past. i would like to get my other account back if a workaround is found.

I did the request new password thing and all.

But the email I received wasn't to my username.

I still followed the directions and everything because I have no other way to post. Well I guess I could figure out a way to do something different. But this is the easiest way.

Unless I'm mistaken ... there's a problem with the email to username mapping.

May be I'm just an idiot and can't follow directions.

Anywho, can a moderator help me out at their convenience? I don't want to post my real username here. Moderator should be able to figure out what email address is associated with this username and what my real username is (I hope).

I seem to remember a username "callingisfunner" though. At the moment I've hijacked his account. But it's unintentionally intentional. I will never do any harm to anyone.

I would hugely appreciate access to my old account 'john kane' (no underscore).

I set it up in 2004 and have been a regular poster since then with around 4,300 posts.

When I went to reset my password using email address chrisharveyv"@"hotmail.com it turns out I set up this account john_kane in 2006.

My john kane account I expect is linked to ch48"at"st-andrews.ac.uk that I no longer have access to (old university account) or v_1984"at"hotmail.com that is an expired hotmail account.

If a mod could please change the email address chrisharveyv"@"hotmail.com from john_kane to john kane so I can reset my password I would be hugely grateful (or PM me a password for john kane).
