if there's a problem with some individual forums, those problems should be discussed. i have no particular interest in protecting any individual forum that might impact the rest of the site, negatively. no promises that discussion will lead to change, but the concerns won't be ignored without consideration.

So would you say what is deemed appropriate and inappropriate for the various forums ultimately comes down to the financial impacts on twoplustwo, rather than moral or ethical considerations?

I think Mat is happy to let mods decide what is appropriate or inappropriate for the various forums, as always. But if those decisions appear to be having a detrimental impact on the site overall, that would probably change.

At least that's the way I understand it from that post and Mat's past actions (or lack thereof).

Secondly, have some ****ing principles. Like if there really is majority support for a forum that consistently has alt-right garbage in it, there should be some ****ing introspection about what brought them here and why they stay.

When you are confronted with this **** and you say that it isn't about morals and ethics, that's bull****. Everyone knows there are moral and ethical boundaries here. What you're saying when you disclaim morality and ethics is that whatever issue you're talking about doesn't offend your personal morals and your personal ethics.

the lazy part is true. and as far as modding anyone on the whole site, that's also pretty true. people volunteer or they are recruited by other moderators and it's welcome aboard.
