I've seen some decent conversations over there.

It's hard though to speak up unless you have a ton of time to pursue an idea or direction.

I understand you not caring it about. I really do. We need to do something about Wookie's moderation though. He permabans a number of participants, with zero warning, including thoughtful reasonable people who post good content elsewhere, which is bad for this forum.

I think if you went back through Wookie's bans, you'd find nearly everyone he bans has a different ideology to him. Some of those posters broke no rules except in his imagination. He allows rampant trolling and personal attacks from people on his side but bans anyone else who gets out of line on the other side - unless they're someone who put the alternative case poorly and they can be laughed at/trolled.

I suggest requiring a log of Wookie's bans and reasons, similar to what we have in unchained (kerowo logs his mod decisions, for example). A little transparency would be good for the politics forums. Right now he just does what he wants and we've lost good posters in other forums because of it.

the one option available to almost everyone who was banned from the site is an exile from politics so they can use the site for more important things like talking about poker, movies or food.
When you're instantly permabanned, with zero warning, this option isn't given to you. Wookie should warn/infract before permabanning - instead he has instantly permabanned a number of very reasonable posters with zero warning. I don't know if he gets drunk and decides he wants to lay down the law, but he's really not fit for being a mod. If you disagree, at the very least require transparency so we can judge for ourselves and 2p2 not lose posters.

please link to the best posts to illustrate your point. (indiv or series of posts whichever is appropriate)
1. worst post by person on wookies side
2. post that brought on a ban on other side.

if your point is correct then 1 should be worse than 2.

No doubt Wookie is biased in his modding. Hard to even argue that he isn't, at least with a straight face. The answer imo is to stay the hell out of politards.

Isn't it enough that 2+2ers want to discuss politics? Especially now that we live in such interesting times.

P is very good, wookie does a very good job (and I say that despite us having an awkward history to put it mildly) but it's a very distinctive flavour. Maybe worth caring enough about 2+2ers to provide a real alternative rather than PU which is a bit like P but even more so.

There is always that "P" in SMP, maybe repurpose it?

If there's demand from 2+2ers for a forum with a different approach to political discussion then an alternative politics forum would seem the obvious simple answer. There's no need to mess about with anything else.

if pu is a failure, then i'm not going to attempt a 3rd. i think kerowo is actually right. any political discussion is somewhat philosophical in nature. i don't see why politics can't be discussed there.

2+2ers who want to talk politics look for a politics forum, they don't go hunting around in non-politics forums hoping to stumble upon it do they? People who want to talk about the 'coup in turkey' aren't going to think 'oh maybe the Science Maths and Philosophy forum is the place to go'

Politics and philosophy are very different. Sure they meet at some point but that's true of philosophy and just about everything.

i'm not going to intervene in the 2 politics forums. if people want change there, they'll have to work with the existing moderators. and don't get me wrong. i'm not saying those forums are perfect the way they are. i just don't feel that screwing around with them is the best use of my time in relation to my role in this company.

I actually came here to check if there was a post like this here.

I feel that he demands sources, explanations while similarly dubiously interpreting posts, just ready with the ban hammer if your response is unsatisfactory. That is if your viewpoint is contradictory to his.

Hahahahaha, oh man, I should have checked back in atf sooner. The tears are, as always, hilarious. Tooth assuming that every account with a July 2016 registration date entering the conversation like they'd been there all along is some brand new user making good points and getting banned without warning is especially hilarious.

Maybe one day you'll learn to stop posting like a 14 year old - most adults are able to make points without insulting people constantly.

Oh, and they usually don't feel the need to circumvent the profanity filter either.

Since you're unable to fly under the radar with a new account, this one's gone as well.

this exchange influenced my spur of the moment changes to unchained. just want to mention that.

Wasn't what I had in mind but I do agree that if we're having an unchained forum then it should be unchained.

Strikes me that if you're going to have a Politics unchained forum then it probably should at least limit discussion to errr politics?

As opposed to the current situation which is a cesspool of about 20 morons flinging poo at each other between licking Lilu7's balls.

On the other hand, if you're just going to have an 'unchained' forum where anything goes, then do that thing and also dump the profanity filter for that forum while you're at it.

Max, Andrii, this sticky could use an update. I reckon Mat's email address should be removed/replaced.

I can’t figure out why I was banned yesterday I didn’t get a pm regarding it. Something about posting outside of containment. I’m not contained anywhere I don’t think. Can a mod please explain to me who banned me and why?

Looks like your most recent ban was by 27offsuit; I'd suggest PMing him. I believe containment threads are definitely a thing in OOT, but I have no idea what your status is.
