Code:
The following errors occurred with your search:
Could not find phrase '1'.
I get this if I search.
I haven't entered '1' or anything for that matter in the terms box.
I was trying to search by username.

Is it just me that gets the error?

For the time being, you can do a search using Google.

Just type '2+2 forums <what you want to search for>'

(Without the angle brackets.)

In fact Google is often a far better way to search forums that the poxy, useless, Jelsoft offering than was pretty hopeless ten years ago and never seems to get improved.

If you know the first few letters of the username you can go to 'advanced search and type them into the 'user name' box. It should then display a lsit of all users with names starting with those letters.

It's a useful function even when search is working. (And it is operating properly at the moment.)

When I search to fast for nothing, I get these three errors:

Quote:
This forum requires that you wait 15 seconds between searches. Please try again in 7 seconds.
Could not find phrase '1'.
Please specify some words or valid user names to search on. There were no matches for those that you specified.
Maybe the order of the messages can help you find the problem. My guess is that the sphinx searchd status code gets treated as an error message for whatever reason.

Also the finduser and getnew parts of the search work perfectly. Only process is acting funny.

I typically search my own name 2 times a day to see if anyone said anything about me and i thought maybe the people who didnt like me made "spaceman bryce" an unsearchable term to spite me. Im glad it's a problem for other people too.

I do this on a daily basis

Only 25% of the time it's to check if someone's saying something about me though. The rest of the time it's to see the list of threads I'm usually involved in at POG, HF and OOTV and to see if there's new posts in any. Good way to keep up to date with them. Yes I could used subscribed feature but meh

my 2+2>Edit Options>Default Thread Subscription Mode

then just check your subscriptions to see if there is any new posts in thread you have participated in

Isn't it two different things?
I search for my username by username to see which threads I participated in have new posts.

I find the search function more convenient but probably only because I am used to it by now.

If you use the default and auto subscribe to the threads you post in then checking your subscribed threads is super easy.

I don't use that feature because I post in tons of threads but I do subscribe to certain threads and check subscriptions all the time.

You can still do that, but you have to search with your userid like in this link:
