Private Messages changes - "Why can't I PM?" - Page 7 - About the Forums

So, based on my experiences as a new user, there was never any notification that, as a new user, I could not send PMs, but I didn't see anything informing me of the existence of PMs on this site, so I wouldn't even have known what I was missing out on.

This is a new developement.

No doubt some of the things you are raising as concerns were either unseen, or thought to be not problematic.

On return to 2p2 I am sure Ryan Beal (an administrator), will note your concerns and look again at this new feature.

You are just suffering from poor timing; opening an account on the one weekend when this went live and the admin is away.

Be patient and I'm sure your concerns will be adressed.

At this moment the rules seem very vague...
how many messages does someone need to post before the pm-option is activated?
I've searched the forum but couldn't find it (sorry).

This is not meant to be public knowledge.

The whole reason for this is to stop pm spammers.

Achieving said goal means we don't want said spammers to know the numbers they need to make to get around it.

The numbers are not static anyhow.

Hey,
i dont know if that is the right forum but i have a problem with 2+2.

I cant watch my pm's, cant edit my posts.
A friend of my has the same problem.

Edit: The edit problem is gone, it works now...
But i still dont see any pm's. Someone has the same problem?

well im not a new user (didnt sign up today) but have only posted a few times since i opened this account. I had no clue as to PM ..had to search the forums for an hour before I finally found this thread. would be nice to have this stand out.

Is there any process available to turn PM on for some new users?
Maybe you should make it so that new users are limited to 2 PM messages a day?
That would probably give all users with legitimate needs to PM what they need, and yet prevent people from abusing the system.

I am looking to PM with people to trade $W for $ and can't do it now with this change.

After typing this is - I noticed that for my account PM's have been turned on. But this may still be an issue for a lot of other users...

Click "My 2+2" at the top and then click "Edit Options" from the drop down menu.

About 1/3 of the way down there is a title bar that says "Messaging and Notifications" (or something close to that).

There should be a box to tick that says "Enable Private Messaging"
