With all due respect, I think that you're seeing the past with rose-colored glasses. I certainly recall instances of you feeling extremely unwelcome and storming out. I've also read much of the stuff you're referring to in the Politics thread and, while there are some people who are consistently out of line, you frequently perceive malice in routine debates where none exists, and I don't think that anyone is interested in getting you to leave the forum. In fact, I'm pretty sure that most people in that thread appreciate that you are one of the few people who is openly uncertain about issues and willing to consider new viewpoints.

Pog has long been a mix that could be separated roughly into two groups: one that is older on average, has a greater proportion of women, and puts a greater value on decorum for want of a better word, the other that is younger maler more bro-ey and more interested in locker room shenanigans. Obviously they're not fully distinct groups and there are people who bridge the divide, but it's still a useful way of looking at things.

All lolpog has ever been is the fact that historically pog started mostly made up of the first group, and the modding, oldest posters and general balance of standards has tended to be biased to it, too, and the latter has grown over time as a proportion and been vocal about wanting to change the way things run. Personally I'm in camp a pretty firmly, but it always been much more a struggle over arbitrary standards than actual rights or wrongs.

Unrelatedly, when Monkey banana was modded it was because he was modding a lot of games, iirc, but I thought, and I think said, that I didn't think he had the right temperament for modding the forum. I think that remains the case. But really other than the steaming post apocalyptic wasteland that is 95% of the politics thread, mostly the forum mods itself ATM, I think.

Finally Miss pog should die, or be replaced by something more general. It's a shame that this probably not very contentious debate has been hitched to more emotive ones on both sides.

I have only been around for 4 years, so I might be wrong, but I think most of the divisive and objectively problematic (ban and infraction magnets) posters tend to have older registration dates?

The real division is between the calm mature sheep people who need literally no modding at all, and the wacko WW people who are always at each other's throats.

Oh, and for all the male posters who only started calling for the patriarchy to be dismantled after recent shifts in the political climate but who never said a word or lifted a finger when women expressed concern about sexism earlier:

We noticed.

It's really too bad that sometimes the right principles can be defended the wrong way or by the wrong people. I guess it'll have to do.

Nice to see you retaining the moral high ground and bringing up things that didn't happen over 5 years ago in an attempt to discredit a very valid point. Google "ad hominem." It should be no problem for you since you're so great at typing.

Fair enough, and it takes what it takes to effect genuine change, but some of it rings inauthentic. Maybe it's just me and I shouldn't be so quick to dismiss people, idk.

I mean, her post is terrible and hypocritical, but I cannot help but wonder why you are basically a non-entity in POG for years and only come there when **** hits the fan.

When are we getting rid of the 'Hot Guys in Poker' thread in the woman's subforum?

We have clearly established the idea that saying a girl is pretty is inherently sexist. Yet this isn't the same for saying guys are hot?

The double standard is strong with this one.

Fair enough, but it is very hard to take him seriously when he posts about something that is POG-related.

Also, there will be a good game in April.
