The newest mod is signaling he might want to step down rather than deal with the nonsense coming from chez, and the only thing chez is sure about - after having drove the forum into the ground on 3 separate occasions over just 6 months or so, is that chez himself is key to an improved p7.

Maybe it's time to stop putting SMP trolls in charge of that forum and let someone else take it in another direction?

This isn't a good summary of my position. I disagree with chez when he says that he doesn't think the poll results matter, but I actually share his preference for the rules as they exist. if I stepped down it would just be because I don't like the idea of enforcing a rule that a super-majority disagrees with, even when I think it's a good rule. It doesn't sound like much fun either. But I don't have any personal quarrel with chez.

Thanks for the clarification of your position, well named. I should have been more clear that the stuff after the link was a continuation of the stuff before it, mainly that chez stands firmly against the desires if the posters in his forum.

I dont agree with rules that allow off topic bickering and personal attacks in all threads.

A reasonable compromise may well be possible.

You've had three chances to prove you can come up with a reasonable rule set and enforce those rules clearly and impartially. You've failed three times so far. Why should anyone believe the fourth time will be the charm?

The intent has remained the same. The rules will continue to be refined.

The community has voiced pretty loudly over the last six months what it wants. No random massive post deletions, no rules changed at a moment's notice and enforced seemingly on a whim, and the opportunity to have adult conversations without an overbearing mod.

You have proven you are incapable of providing these things as a mod, chez, and your only concern now appears to be how you can keep your name green.

It's still unclear why whosnext is on the mod list, as he's around less than when Elliot was modding in absentia.

If our choice is continued nonsense from chez or whatever rule set we can cobble together under reasoned conversation with well named, seems abundantly clear what the community would prefer.

Like, of the past four mods, only one has been a politics reg? Five if you count spanky's two terms as mod.

I'm not sure who the we is or why need is relevant to the discussion tbh. It's a bad forum imo but that's clearly not enough reason to be done with it.

What other reason do you need? What does it provide that alpha doesn't other than a place for Wil to post, and chez is even getting tired of that.

Meh, I think there's a bunch of forums that no one actually needs but I can't say I'm arsed enough to make an issue of it. Like I think p7 is awful but I think a bunch of forums are awful, thing is if posters are guilty of such egregious infractions that they should be banned, and I think they are mongidig's take on Muslims being responsible for the attacks on Muslims being a case in point then they can be banned without closing the forum down.

Your failure must weigh heavily upon you. Have you tried a clean slate?
