I just received a temp-ban and 50 infraction points from Mr Wookie on the Politics forum for the crime of linking to this article in a thread about the Ukraine crisis.

So infowars is now banned from the 2plus2 forum. On what basis? If you want to write off an entire alternative news site as 'conspiracy nonsense' then make a comment to that end, or even better just don't bother clicking on the link.

I think an authority figure seriously needs to have a word with Mr Wookie. His partisan / spiteful moderating is an absolute joke. The poltics forum has basically become a private club for vitriolic liberals to reinforce each others opinions whilst denigrating (not to mention banning) any alternative narratives.

Silly me thinking the politics forum was a place where people are supposed to debate politics. I would be interested to know how many users Mr Wookie has banned. I'd be surprised if it wasn't well over 500. How does it benefit the site as a business to be losing so many users / traffic because of a spiteful moderator?

Politics forum has a long rich history of poor, arbitrary and capricious modding. I agree with the Unchained suggestion.

Nothing good ever happened in the Politics forum, that's for sure. Best to practice avoidance.

Just a point of clarification.

What got him the ban?

Was it the fact that he linked another site?
Was it the fact that what he linked to was offensive?

And was the infraction a sub-forum specific offense or site wide? i.e. could he have posted something like that in another sub-forum and been ok.

I am just slightly confused.

I have no problem with how 2+2 chooses to moderate its own site just curious as to what particular boundary this particular poster crossed.

The Politics forum sticky is very clear that conspiracy theory nonsense is not welcome, and the site OP linked to is the most well known, high profile conspiracy nonsense repository on the internet. I'm assuming that had a lot to do with the ban.

Mythbusters shot down this theory.
