I like the idea that the reputation of the guy being quoted somehow matters more than anything. Hersh didn't start the darn thread.

Hersh used to be an amazing investigative journalist. Sadly he is now a tinfoil-hat wearing conspiriblogger who would fail basic journalism ethics, fact-checking, and sourcing in an undergrad journalism course.

The fact that he was once a genius does not make his current idiocy valid, anymore than Bobby Fishers genius background made his descent into racism valid.

The Hersh OBL story was discussed on main stream news outlets. It was even partly corroborated by NBC, who also did not contradict any of Hersh's report IIRC. So a better title for this thread might ask whether wookie is above NBC in discerning what topics have merit (not).

If wookie is going to be so conservative by even mainstream standards maybe the politics forum should be called Wookies Playground. Putting something in the name of the forum to let people know it's not a place to discuss politics as commonly understood, but instead to discuss under one persons fringe view of what constitutes appropriate discussion, there wouldn't be this kind of confusion and resentment caused from mislabeling.
