Bro, if listing Trump campaign promises counts as a tirade, there are many other places on 2+2 where you can take your elite political postings and show how awesome discussion can be with you in it where you won't be bothered by me.

Wookie, as a person/poster you're absolutely fine to hate on Trump and his supporters. As a moderator your personal feelings about politics/ideologies should play zero factor in your moderating decisions and you should be objective/unbiased. You need to compartmentalize your role as a moderator from your role as a poster. It can be a difficult thing to do with such an emotionally-charged topic like politics, and I'm not saying you don't, but when Mat asks you a direct question about your ability to moderate fairly and your response is to not answer it and make a Trump-related post instead it makes it seem like you can't/don't.
06-16-2017 , 06:34 PM
I have answered many times that I can be fair, and my attitude hasn't changed.
06-16-2017 , 06:49 PM
I'm a regular reader of the politics forums/threads on the site but I never engage, so I'm just an observer from afar. If you stating that is good enough for Mat, it's good enough for me too. It's just there are times the optics don't look good and I can at least understand why posters sometimes perceive that to not be the case. Just some thoughts from someone with no skin in the game.

Mat, no offence, but for God's sake grow a pair and get rid of this clown.
Because of certain photographs Mr.Wookie has in his possession of myself and a fly, I am unable to simply "get rid of him." In those photographs you would see that i do indeed have a pair. They haven't actually done me much good, however, in this or any other cases that come to memory.

Mr.Wookie and I do both understand, however, that in this particular forum people are allowed to bring up all issues regarding the site without fear of reprisal, provided those issues are presented in a civil manner.

Hi Mat.

I just reported his post for violating the broad-brush rule and then saw your post here.

His post might have been believable, but then he went off into this rant about Trump supporters being dumb and ignorant, and you don't have to agree with a single iota of the Republican agenda to know that can't be true. It would bother me quite a bit more than it does if there were truth to it. What bothers me about his post is the broad-brush and that it's by the mod who I just held up as an OK guy just the post before, and in response to my question he was so against the proposition of my posting in the thread he mods that he didn't even deign to say "no," just expected me to read the "no" between the lines.

Thanks for asking a legitimate question in reaction to his post, at least.

Without agreeing with your entire list of characterizations, is your solution to find ways to infract Republicans because their beliefs repulse you?

Thanks for the support, but stooping to Wookie's level doesn't help our cause (calling him "clown").

You report me for Politics forum rule violations for my posts in ATF?

Also, I didn't call all Trump supporters dumb and ignorant, neither did I call them one or the other. It is merely the case that some are, just as there are dumb and/or ignorant people of every affiliation. The people who support Trump but who are ignorant of him are very few. In fact, I would much rather it were the case that Trump supporters were merely ignorant of Trump's proposals and agenda rather than being knowledgeable and embracing them, which is much more common.

You really should be de-modded.

I expect proper usage of the English language when I am trolled. "Clear" is an absolute adjective; therefore, a comparative adjective ("more") cannot modify it.

There's a reason the Republicans swept all of the branches of government in the most recent elections, federal and state. We are sick and tired of being sick and tired.

So thank you for condescendingly allowing departure from liberal orthodoxy, kind sir.

Do you ever get tired of being wrong?

The basic rules tell us that because clear is a one syllable adjective there is no need to use ‘more.’ But the reality is that in everyday usage, both are perfectly acceptable

I've been around the politics since before there were slow ponies. I can answer zorkman's question.

If you read the rules in the sticky and follow them, you will never get an infraction regardless of your ideology.

Still, it is difficult for posters with minority viewpoints to survive. There's one of you to a whole bunch of them. All of them will be interacting with one of you. This gets old pretty quick. The best of them will be making good points but the bulk will not. The bulk is the issue. Lots of them will add no content and make it personal. If they are experienced they'll do that carefully within the rules.

If you think you are responding in kind, that's a road to getting banned. Follow the rules as written, not your interpretation of the posts of others.

To be successful with a minority viewpoint it's best to have

1) lots of energy to engage the many
2) lots of cites. gotta show your work when nobody agrees
3) a sense of humor / thick skin

To just survive with a minority viewpoint it's essential to have some perspective. A persecution complex will kill you. Some survive by being write only and not processing any replies.

I think these rules apply generally.

Libs be mad itt

Well, at least you have
the Presidency
the Vice Presidency
the Speaker of the House
a Senate majority
the Supreme Court
a majority of governor's mansions
a majority of statehouses
President Bartlet

Excellent advice and post. I will try to take it to heart as I figure out to what extent I want to continue on this site and which threads. Thanks.

You're really making them regret not rolling out the red carpet.

Too bad Wookie wouldn't just answer the question.

Isn't listing the vice presidency kind of redundant? Might as well list the cabinet positions too and really pile on.

Since you're an English nit, I'm sure you realize presidency doesn't need to be capitalized.

Notice anything important you might have left out, Zorkman?

Pretty hard to take any of your other complaints seriously when you are this blatantly disingenuous.

Aye, well, there's the rub.
