I am curious as to how the admins and other mods deal with transgressions of the T&C by a mod. Take for example some offense that for a first time violation normally results in something like a 3 day ban for a poster. But what if a mod does it? Does he/she get temp-banned ever? Or do all the greenies get a pass from their fellow greens and the reds unless the transgression is so bad as to warrant a perma-ban? And if greenies do get a get out of jail free card, do they have an endless supply of such cards for small and medium offenses?

I can't recall a mod ever being temp banned. The software does not allow mods to ban other mods, so it would have to come from an admin. Posts made by moderators are sometimes locked or deleted, but generally, a mod will be degreened as an intermediate step before they are ever banned.

Well I too have certainly seen the mods of various forums edit or delete the posts of other mods who aren't co-mods of that forum. But it seems to me that a temp-ban is a far lesser intermediate step than de-greening. So the question then I guess is do mods merely edit/delete offensive posts by other mods, or do they also ever refer them to the reds? And do the reds ever temp-ban a mod without informing the other mods?

Mods are volunteers, therefore we speak directly with the admins who can ask us personally to adjust our actions if we get out of line. This is also a similar policy for posters who know mods or admins in real life, if the problem can be addressed and fixed in ways outside of a ban it usually is the first priority. Of course then there are the times that a temp ban will occur until a conversation could be had, ala Clark and countless others before him.

ready for this? I actually think BluffThis would make a good mod except he has burned too many bridges under his user name. Bizarre but true, he has many qualities that are good for management. If he ever started a clean slate with a new name and none of us knew about it then it wouldn't shock me if he was asked to take the step up once he proved his worth.

I would guess some mods have crossed the line or even tried to cross it just for the thrill. It would be akin to a snowboarder performing an Ally Oop for the first time. The nice thing is they don't have to get off their ass to do it.
If you don't know what an Ally Oop is then google it or ,better still, just start a thread in OOT asking what it is.
