Hi zedotechsupport,

I realized that when I just load one ad in a separate tab, d3.zedo.com replies within less than 100 ms. Then I embedded different number of ads on a local web server, and repeatedly got fast responses when I loaded a page with 4 or fewer ads. At 5 or more ads the 1 s delays started happening. Afaik most pages on twoplustwo have 7 ads.

I think this could be some kind of flood protection to avoid DNS. Whatever it is, I hope the information that it only happens when several ads are requested in a short time helps you to narrow it down.

Thanks for sharing the details. Our operations team informed us that “z3.zedo.com" hostname doesn't exist. Hence could you ping z1.zedo.com and d3.zedo.com in order to check ping response time. Also z1.zedo.com and d3.zedo.com are map to same Akamai servers / data center.

Thanks for the feedback. We consulted our OPS team and were informed that there is no restriction with respect to DNS resolution or number of http requests we receive. We have created a test link below containing six ad tag, could you test the same and let us know the response time.

What kind of error? If it's the generic database error that goes away when press F5 a couple of times, I have no idea besides pressing F5. Otherwise it's probably some special character that needs escaping. For example sphinx will interpret the @ symbol in an email address as the field search modifier, and complain. You need to use \@.

Thanks for the demo link. The team is correct that can't be related to DNS. I was thinking denial of service; n and o aren't even close to each other on the keyboard.

Good news. I hope somebody did something. Otherwise I'm even more confused.

d3.zedo.com is reacting much faster than the previous days.
The demo you provided loads fast in chrome, firefox and ie.
Pingdom classifies both the demo (75) and 2p2 (73) as fast.
When I open 2p2 in ie or firefox d3.zedo.com responds within 50-100 ms (fast).

One issue that I don't fully understand yet. When I open 2p2 in chrome d3.zedo.com takes 200-300 ms. By itself that's acceptable, but the user experience is still: The entire site loads first, and the ads appear a little later. This also happens when I spoof the user agent, so I don't think it's a problem on your end. Unless its a timing issue.

It's a little strange that viewing the same ads via 2 sites and 3 browsers is slower in 1 out of 6 scenarios. But the real problem is solved for me.

can you ping/trace it and post the results? Skip the hop with your IP address. For me it is the first hop out of my ISP and responding instantly.

Could you please let us know if you are still facing issues with ZEDO ad calls? If yes, please provide us the screen shot of Ping and tracert output of the ZEDO domain for which you are facing issue. Below are the steps to get Ping and tracert output. This will help us to check further.

The ping command checks the destination IP address you want to reach and records the results. It also shows whether the destination responded and how long it took to respond.

Open a Command Prompt on your computer. Start >> Run >> cmd
Type the command ping**.zedo.com [for e.g. z1.zedo.com], take a screenshot of the output and provide us the same.

Trace Route shows you the route over the network between two systems, listing all the intermediate routers a connection must pass through to get to its destination. It can help you determine why your connections to a given server might be poor, and can often help you figure out where exactly the problem is.

Open Command Prompt again
Type the command tracert **.zedo.com - take a screenshot of the output and provide us the same.

it's not an image, it's the thing that makes all the ads you see on 2p2 possible. until it's finished loading you can't see the rest of 2p2

Link to thread please? Yesterday the 2 plus 2 layout was all out of kilter. It went back to the original format but very weird to have welcome screen and advertisements in places unacustomed to seeing them. The layout made using the forum unusable for about 30 minutes before it reverted to the original layout. Did anyone else ever experience this?

You might not need all these entries, but I wasn't sure if just zedo.com would block z1.zedo.com so I added them all.

Also had to restart my machine before the changes took affect.

This solved my problems for almost 2 years. Anyone know how I can add the new add servers to this so I can continue to use this site?
