I can't even begin to express how frustrating it is for mods to have to attend to post after post, day after day, in a thread where over half the title is taken up by the words "[The first post is a "MUST READ" for the Posting Rules]", that are made by people who can't even be bothered to do so. And these are the people who enable the scammers to keep making a living. People who make these seemingly innocent mistakes are one of the main reasons scammers are here, taking money from our posters and creating even more work for the mods. That's why the mods, rather than sending a coddling "Hi sir, it would be really great if you could read the first post of the thread with all of the rules before you post again - sorry we didn't make that more clear to you before you posted", send a much more brief message like "Please read and follow forum and thread rules, etc, before posting in this special thread.", which is far from unhelpful, BTW.

So after the mod, who is volunteering his time on this site to help out and does a tonne of work in stopping the scammers, sends you a very polite message with your infraction, your reaction is to send him a nasty PM - what kind of reply were you expecting? Was the plan that he would see the non-existent error of his ways and apologize to you for daring to give you an infraction, and beg you to not tell everyone what a joke this was and how lonely he is?

Then after you get what should have been the expected reply, you start a thread titled "The Mods on this site are horrible". Amazingly, in spite of discovering you can get an infraction for not following rules, you can't even be bothered to attempt to find out where you should post it, you just toss it into whatever forum works best for you. But regardless of what forum it went in, again, what kind of reaction were you hoping for here?

Yes, the transfers thread is modded harshly, but there's a good reason for that. In spite of what others might tell you, that doesn't mean every part of the site works the same way. If infractions bother you a great deal, you might want to read rules and stickies before posting in a forum or thread you're unfamiliar with. This is a great place with lots of helpful people and seemingly endless resources, but it is also extremely large and as a result has a number of different communities that are all handled just a little (or a lot) differently from one another. Proceed with care.

The moderators need to read more and overreact less. That is the problem. The mods here, with a few very notable exceptions, are horrendous when it comes to managing the threads. They let stuff ride that should lead to a ban and they throw infractions around for stuff that is fair comment.

Well then you should probably report posts that you see that you feel should be removed/infracted.

But this is a ridiculous example to try to make your argument. OP didn't read bother to read the rules of the thread in which he posted, despite the thread title which includes the words READ THE FIRST POST AND has a disclaimer, sent a rude response to the mod after he got an infraction, then didn't learn from his mistake and posted this thread in the wrong forum (and wasn't infracted for that, BTW).

Brand new posters are usually given leeway when they make obvious mistakes, but when someone has been around for 2+ years and then throws a hissy fit over a simple infraction, it's not the mods who are being horrible.
