I checked and didn't see this covered elsewhere, but Safari (OS X and iOS) doesn't offer the WYSIWYG editor. I had typically used Firefox on my Mac and didn't pay that much attention, but now wish to use Safari more to keep things synced with my iPad.
It turns out it's actually rather easy to trick the site into displaying the WYSIWYG editor option by changing the browser user agent, such that Safari tells sites that it's a different browser. Simply go to Preferences, then choose the Advanced tab. From there, check Show Develop menu in menu bar at the very bottom. Close out of Preferences and, in the new Develop menu, select User Agent and choose a browser like Firefox for Mac. That's it.
If you need Safari to report that it's Safari at some point, simply choose default from the User Agent menu to restore.
For iOS devices, while iOS Safari now allows opening of site desktop versions (hold down the circular refresh icon to the right of the URL bar and choose Request Desktop Site), which works by changing the user agent to report that it's Safari for Mac, it doesn't offer any option that I could find to report that's anything but Safari. A workaround is to use a browser that allows changing of the browser user agent, such as Atomic Web. In one of these browsers simply change the browser user agent to Firefox in the browser's settings and the WYSIWYG editor appears.
