I'm not surprised, the first 5 minutes are a pretty blatant ad for iSeries and Mason and Mat are really strict about the no-spamming rule (and have no qualms about banning known players). Hopefully this will blow over.

All Daniel has to do is give them a cut of the lseries cash and *presto*, he'll be allowed to talk about it.

LOL, I really hope this isn't sarcasm, because the fact that someone starts an "Official" thread for his vlog doesn't mean he can then spam his vlog.

Some of the auto-defending on here is really pretty ridiculous (talking about posts previous to lillou's), especially when you don't know all the facts. Not that you should need to; it should be obvious from the link that this was blatant spam. But here's some info that might help.

Daniel started a thread about iSeriesLive 2 days ago, for which he was infracted, as anyone would have been. 2 days later, he spams links to his vblog in two different threads, and the first 6:20 of the linked video is about iSeriesLive. For this he gets a one day tempban - such an easy call, no matter who it is.

Also, I should mention that linking to your blog or video blog, even if it has zero advertising content, generally isn't allowed on 2+2. With spam like this one had, it was a pretty easy call. This isn't some kind of personal strike at anyone; it's extremely standard policy.

I think if someone starts an official thread for your vlog and a mod comments that it was a good idea, and the thread is left up, you should be allowed to put your vlog up there.

Fair point re the rest of your comments, but you might have come across better if you'd just said that in the first place.

i don't ever speak about the stuff that goes on around 2p2 and i don't ever feel the need to, but god dam...this is a terrible, horrible move to do this to daniel. total lack of class move.

Point taken - had it just been a simple vblog link to a video that contained no promotional materials, it would have been borderline and might have been permitted. And even if it wasn't, a tempban would've been unlikely.

You also have to remember that, silly though it may seem in some situations, on 2+2 there's a big difference between someone posting a link to your blog and you posting it yourself. Unfortunately, allowing self-promotion usually leads to abuse of the privilege.

It looks like it's up to anyone else to post links to the videos. Self promotion, apparently, is not allowed.

What I can't figure out is why this was handled out in the open this way. Daniel might have been in the wrong, but it it makes no sense to embarrass him and put him on the defensive like this. If he's trying to advertise, then you should be helping him find a way to make that happen.

Can someone remind me why a thread not initiated by Daniel was pulled? Is iseries a no-go on this site? If so, why, and why the exception relative to other commercial ventures?

The first 5 minutes of this weeks 'rant' are essentially a boring infomercial. I'm disappointed that after only a few weeks in Daniel has already allowed his otherwise excellent vlogs be spoiled by thinly veiled commercial advertising.

This is spam, spam is not allowed, yes even if it's from DN. 2+2 bent the rules for DN by allowing the weekly vblog and unintentional or not DN took advantage. All these comments about 2+2 being $*$*#(#)) and whatever are just going to further inflame the situation. Use some common sense.
