Hilarious bed crapping going on here. A mod changes the name of an existing thread to be an Official Daniel vlog thread and then Daniel posts his latest vlog and gets infracted/banned because of its content.

How much traffic does Daniel drive to this site? He references it in interviews and blogs etc. Does he ask to be paid for that? Look at the views in the threads he has participated in. He might as well stop participating here at all and stop mentioning 2+2 ever. Bed crapping only Micon could best.

I was leaning on the side of twoplustwo before this post.

I would add my thoughts to this conversation, but in the spirit of the concept of free speech, I would probably get perma banned.

Perhaps Daniel will adopt the Paul Phillips stance. He stated if he was ever banned, he would never post again reasoning that 2+2 needed him more than he needed them.

Paul was banned for something totally ridiculous althought I can't recall for what . 2+2 /Mat made some weak attempt to attempt to reverse the ban by allowing posters to vote on a reverse. No use since Paul never posted here again.

It's not the length of the ban that's the issue, it's the fact that it's totally unjustified. As someone above has said, he mentions 2+2 a few times etc and doesn't ask to be paid for it. It's quite embarrassing for him to have been banned from here just for having the audacity to post a link to his Vlog in a thread that a moderator of this site changed the title to "official DN Vlog thread".

This could have been handled differently by both sides imho. I do agree DN does mention 2+2 quite a bit. AND he actually posts here regularly. Thats gotta be worth something. Both parties are at fault imo.

Would a simple mod edit not have been more appropriate telling him not to self post his links as it's in breach of the rules.

This makes 2+2 look terrible and says more about the mods on this forum than any attempt Daniel could make at self promotion.

He was warned, infracted, offered the opportunity to formally advertise and was well aware that the two threads on the topic were already previously closed. He clearly has a financial interest in the project, he's a millionaire, just advertise and let's talk about it. The guys at DraftDay obliged and that's why there's still an active conversation on their website.

Plus, at the very least let someone else post his infommerical so that he's not under the gun.

I have to believe that this decision came from the top of the food chain, No way Kevmath or the other regular mods like Sarge did the banning. Shrug. To avoid being banhammered myself I will keep my thoughts to myself on how inappropriate I felt the banning was, I mean to ban Danny Negreanu is pretty serious stuff. (even if its a temp ban which is what it appears to be)

Yeah that's clearly a joke - i seriously doubt Daniel realised he was breaking any rules. But sure go ahead and ban (regardless for how long) one of the only huge names in the poker world who actually contributes to this community.

You seem to be mistaken about the reason for the temp ban. AFAIK, it wasn't because he linked his vlog - Bobo Fett specifically stated that had that been all that was done, it probably wouldn't have resulted in anything, let alone a temp ban.

The reason for the temp ban was because the vlog contains a plug for the iSeries, which DN already attempted to plug in NVG and was warned not to do so. 2p2 doesn't allow people to advertise for free.

Interesting that although this thread has been here for several weeks, this is the first time DN himself linked his vlog rather than another poster doing so. Maybe because this time it specifically plugs something he stands to make money off of?

He's excited about his new business venture (or whatever his involvement with iSeries is, I don't know the specifics), which is great. But he can't advertise on here for free. He was told that, but did so again (via his vlog).

If you're going to rant and rave, at least rant and rave about the correct thing.

Risking Daniel not to post here any longer ..is just not worth it.

We all know DN doesnt need the money and isnt a shady guy so I think giving him the benefit of the doubt would have been more wise. Horrible decision but oh well life continues on.

In a vakuum your statement rings true. In a meta-sense I see it as a bit of an own goal.

While you do succeed in upholding your principal of forbidding free advertising, you risk the chance of losing one of the very few real pokerstars who regular posts on your forum.

It's a close call, but I would have allowed it as long as he didn't abuse it more than an occasional link to his vlog.

I'm just explaining the stance of 2p2 on the matter - my opinion on the banning or whether or not DN should be allowed to plug iSeries has no bearing on the matter.

I think the previous poster who pointed out that DN essentially plugs 2p2 for free has a valid point.

That said, the fact that iSeries hasn't responded to 2p2's email letting them know they can advertise for the same fee as others is telling. I can understand the admins reason for their "nobody can advertise for free, no exceptions" policy.
