Love the site and it's purpose but 100% dislike the bashing that goes on with every post.

Considering switching to another site to post, read and review hands.

Does anyone monitors posts and bans users?

Read the forum stickies, all the forums have different rules. If you see someone out of line,report them, or ignore them.

Plenty get banned.

Yes, each forum has a number of moderators, whose names you can find at the bottom right of the list of threads in any forum. They do not necessarily monitor posts, as they won't read every single post in their forum, but they will review any posts that are reported through a post notification .

If you have any concerns about a post, please report the post by clicking on the post notification icon and your concerns will be investigated by one of the moderators for that forum.

Who do you report to? I feel like a ton of ppl are out of line and it truly gets discouraging to post / comment

Unfortunately freedom of speech is a concept that applies to limitations placed on one's ability to express oneself by the government. Freedom of speech does not exist on a privately run forum such as this one.

I felt is was appropriate for me to express this opinion as a counterbalance to your claim that any tenant who would not pay you $30 so you could do a background check on them, or has messy car, is not a good tenant. If someone wanted to do a background check on me, I would not pay for them to do it, yet I would still be a good tenant. Also, my car is very messy, yet I would still be a good tenant. And I would not pay a deposit of one month rent of which half is not refundable. I would still be a good tenant. I feel like you post was a personal attack against me and I am disappointed you were not banned for it.

What I was hoping someone would take from my post is that you sound like a greedy landlord who wants really good tenants yet you seem like you could be a really bad landlord. I'd be concerned you would be very difficult to deal with. And your unwillingness to pay the cost of a background check would raise a red flag for me, and make me wonder if you'd be too cheap to take care of any problems that may arise in my rental unit.

I was sharing my experience as a landlord.

Honestly I have a great relationship with my tenants. I ask them to pay for certain things as I'm trying to run a profitable business and I believe it's right for me to do.

The problem is not whether you agree with me or not but how you express your thoughts on it.

You need to harden up. There is nothing wrong with that post IMO.

OP please post links to some threads where you feel you were bashed unnecessarily. Not for my own amusement of course to provide some evidence for your claims that a lot of unnecessary bashing takes place here. Just two or three threads should do it.

The rules for respectful conduct are present in the site wide rules, but they're selectively enforced by the mods, so this place ends up like a cross between a sane forum and Youtube chat.

Even though guidelines are posted in each forum as an addition to site wide guidelines it is more of a common law versus civil law kind of place.

Reading the forums back a few years is like walking through a graveyard.

I was recently reading a post from a couple years back. Someone mentioned that they thought this forum was only valuable bc of its archived threads.

I disagreed initially, bc I think posting hands can still be useful, but I also agree in so many ways. I've spent a lot of time reading older posts, & there's a noticeable difference between now & then. The amount of negative & condescending replies now is unsettling. If you reply to a thread with something positive or meaningful, you're now in the minority.

When this site gained notoriety, it also gained a lot of people who developed a sense of entitlement that they don't even deserve, simply bc they're members of the site that spurred others to greatness . It's a disgrace to the people who came before you on this forum. It's a disgrace to the current pros who credited this site for where they are today. If the current trend continues, there will be no pros to thank 2+2.

Poker needs new players, & we have the ability to encourage people to participate in this game that we all love. You're not doing the poker community any favors when you belittle them, you're being selfish by discouraging them in order to make yourself feel better.

This thread isn't directed at anyone with good intentions, & I know there are a lot of you here. It's directed at those who post things like "your stats suck, do yourself a favor & quit" on a beginning players thread who was seeking advice. I saw this 3 weeks ago, & it was echoed by the next 4 members, bc the guy was -$400 over 22 sessions. If you post negative things like this, I'm talking directly to you.

I might be relatively new to this site, but its easy to realize this forum is better off without people like you. We should want them to develop their games & learn more, not tell influence them to quit bc they started off losing. They can't even post an advice thread without being insulted by half the posts. We all start off as losing players, but all of us have the ability to become great. It just takes an incredible work ethic, faith, & a love of the game. We should be uplifting & encouraging each other through meaningful posts, not bringing people down through useless posts.

This forum has the potential to do incredible things for the poker world, when it's used for it's original purpose: helping out each other to become the best players we possibly can.

Tldr

Jk, there is still a lot of value but the site has evolved. Once the poker economy changed the motivation to improve diminished, as did the constructive discussion. Unfortunately it's a bunch of trolls to sift through now. The mods still are way better than other forums though so it's still a great option.

Ironically I just made a post about this in this forum, before I saw this. I couldn't agree more with this battagd, I think you can echo many of the things I say in my post.

For those of you who decided this was the appropriate place to bash him, check out the thread "Do you believe 2+2 forums has digressed". It was written just for you.

Yeah, sorry for the rant guys, but it's how I feel.

Unfortunately I don't think a lot of these people are "trolling", bc that implies that they're saying it to get a reaction. I think a lot of these posts are genuinely out of bitterness & insecurity
