Re: Banned....

Anyway, i disagree about your characterization as posting in a thread being more spammy than a PM. a pm is much more invasive than a post i don't have to read in a thread i don't have to open if I don't want to. An ad on the side of a bus is going to reach way more people than a telemarketer calling me at dinner time, but i don't want to punch the bus in the face because i can just ignore it.

I asked about making a post in regs threads

Do you even know what regs threads are?

siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh. if you actively read/post in a reg thread you are going to open it. and read all the unread posts. and read the free coaching post. unless by some miracle you already have the guy on ignore.

Re: Banned....

I feel OP's pain. GL OP, assuming you didn't really spam peoples PM's.

Re: Banned....

All I feel is OP's sarcastic/rude/douchey comments in this thread. In every way his approach to getting unbanned has been wrong. He needs some unban me coaching.

Re: Banned....

The insta ban was harsh but op and Jah Onion not realising why pming users offering free anything is hard to understand. Such a grey area that could easily be abused.

Re: Banned....

I can understand why unsolicited pm's would be a negative and I'd be kinda offended if someone sent me unsolicited pm's offering to coach for free even if they were better than me.

That said, OP clearly thought what he was doing was ok, he pm'd a mod first and misunderstood. I think a perma-ban is a bit over the top.

Re: Banned....

Posted earlier and realised I didn't say enough. MMD is a rock solid poster and banning him is retarded. He made an 2p2 mistake (rookie error for those in the know - d negr did something similar) and from this thread that looks obvious.

Based on his posting history ban needs to be lifted quick and fast imo.

MMD is good people imo. Lift ban with no leniency for future mistakes. Or leave it, meh, just thought Id chime in.

Not even just starting the thread but the continuation and his insistence that he was still okay to do what he did.

That said, I wouldn't permaban him for just that even with the defiance about it.

There may be other issues involved than we are aware. Remember that only his side of the story has been time here.

Re: Banned....

As much as my gut reaction is to love banning things and really hating unsolicited PMs, without more history this seems a bit over the top.

Also, with zero experience in the coaching forum- the whole idea of "you can't start a thread but you can PM people, just so long as you do it in the right way" seems weird as hell.

Re: Banned....

this was just a little confusion. i meant he should be offering his free services, privately, to people he already has a relationship with on the site and to people requesting coaching. i obviously wasn't clear enough.
