I used to feel exactly the same way, and I always used "fora" when writing about the different forums.

Then I was told by a respected dictionaryologist that, as we all know in our heart of hearts, the English language is evolving constantly, and it is now accepted in academia that "forums" is the correct word to use. (OTOH, using "fora", whilst perhaps causing some to raise an eyebrow, would still be tolerated without attracting too much chastisement and ribald laughter.)

Another point in favour of fora is that, when the pet care forum is created, we could have "About the Fora", and "About the Fauna".
