I could have been the first poster but I don't do fantasy, so I had nothing real to add and I'm sure an empty first thread named BOOM would get deleted.
Just reported two spam posts and was wondering if restricting the ability to post to no earlier than 24 hours after initial account creation would be worthwhile. Without knowing how much of this kind of spam 2p2 gets or how much mod time is used dealing with it, not sure how to evaluate the tradeoff of making people wait for 24 hours (or however long) against the benefit of not dealing with the spam. I think most people who want to participate on 2p2 would understand not being able to post for 24 hours if it was explained on signup that it was to prevent/reduce spamming.
Then the spam bots would get reprogrammed to make their assault 24 h after registering. New users might get scared off from a site that can't contain them, which would look as one of the most important things because that's what the site would be welcoming them with in the pop-up.
I have not any significant problems with spams btw.
There must generally be other solutions than make innocents suffer.
I just got an email saying someone is trying to log into my account. The email gave me the IP address of where it's coming from. I recently (like a month ago) changed my pw. The email said it was 5 failed attempts. I have a pretty strong password imo but is this cause for concern?
Edit...Ive been dicking around on 2+2 for the past few hours and posting and what not.
