Re: Ad for cheating

Ad should clearly be taken down. I can't imagine Mason would be ok with it.

What makes it worse to me is that it's showing up in the announcement part, where messages from 2p2 often appear. I interpret whatever exists in that space as a lot more endorsed by 2p2 than whatever shows up on the sidebars.

Re: Ad for cheating

I didn't bother clicking the ad when I saw it, but figured it would be some training site or tool that was advertised as "so good it's practically cheating".

Unless the product advertised is actually cheating, I don't see the problem. It may be bad a bad advertisement, but if 2+2 would only allow high quality ads, they wouldn't make a lot of money off their ads.

Tend to agree the ad should come down.

I guess, but as he turned it over to the powers that be for consideration it's not a real disagreement. I'm still a huge fan of his work.

I honestly don't think they did, but you're correct in that they might not mind too much in the end.

I'm sort of on the fence as to whether the ad should stay or go, but I'm pretty sure she's allowed to disagree with me anyway.

Once in a while.

Re: Ad for cheating

I just saw this

It's absolutely disgusting regardless what the actual product is and sends all the wrong messages, not just to 2p2 as the largest poker forum resource, but to the whole game and community.

There's a subtle indication in the message that cheating is OK, especially if it's legal. And this is what everyone sees entering the site

WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?????

Re: Ad for cheating

Seems to me that the ad should be taking down. Most people who see the ad will only read it and not click on it. Thus, most people will really think its about cheating.

Re: Ad for cheating

I don't get it. An ad can't say "legally cheat" then link to poker traning videos. This is apparently outrageous and harmful to 2p2's image.

But the advertising and forums for poker rooms that have lied and clearly cheated users and facilitated cheating during a major promotion then lied about it and not answered further questions is fine?

It's even more mind boggling to me when you consider the actual impact. A few thousand buyers probably for this poker training video site, compared to poker rooms with thousands of players online at a time.

I'll give this one up, but I'm truly baffled at the bar seemingly in cloud nine for a poker room but near the ground for some small training site.

And for the record, a simple PM to the owner with "Hey, your ad is a bit misleading and possibly bad for the games, why don't you change it to 'Our Poker Training/Coaching is so good it is almost like cheating'" would be like a logical way to come at this problem. Instead of all the drama about how bad this is (it's so small, and so irrelevant when you look at the way the actual regulators AND poker rooms in the online poker world operate, c'mon guys, where is the 500+ post thread about the LGA's conduct?).

I really think this is the main problem. I also think it is deceptive advertising, so am not okay with it on those grounds alone, regardless of where it would appear on the site.
