[x] 6 months, [x] my birthday, [x] $1k

My first topic in BBV, I figure it's gotta have some worth to me, and the time has come.

I started playing Poker in August(ish) last year (I know what you're thinking already, stfu and read on), about 1k hands per month on Sky Poker ... actually **** it, this is real boring, cliffs for this part.
  • Begun learning how to play in late August '08, just after turning 18.
  • Played about 10k hands max in 6 months at SkyPoker (Aug 08-Feb 09).
  • Got a hard job so I couldn't grind anymore (Nov 08-Feb 09).
  • Stopped working, and deposited $30 to last me forever (Feb 09-Current).

(Don't ask about the last 11k hands at 2NL, I really don't ****ing know, or care)

I grinded 2NL, quickly moved to 5NL, quickly moved to 10NL and then withdrew my roll because I had some parties coming up and needed some jeans and drink. No biggie, I'll move back down to 5NL, so I withdrew my roll and left myself with $60, and I quickly ran it up again, then stupidly, I withdrew again for another party, left myself with $60, and at 5NL again. Because of this, I played ..... wait for it .... 98k hands at 5NL. True story ITT.

This was the last time I withdrew, and I was ready to move to 10NL. I spent a little time at 10NL, ran bad at first, I thought everyone was a super aggro monkey and I lost quite a few BI at first, moved back to 5NL, and decided to give it another shot about 2 months ago. I was a member on DC, I downloaded every NLHE and PLO video and burnt them to disk, sat down and watched the Coaching Tree (if you're a micro grinder and seen this piece of gold, dip into your shallow pockets and ****ing invest $29 just for this series, I'll even provide a link for you lazy ****ers), and I crushed 10NL for 22bb/100 over 22k hands, time to move up once again.

I'm now at 25NL and have a comfortable BR (half way through 25NL and 50NL), my winrate isn't nothing to write home about as it's my first month at 25NL, but I hope to have a respectable WR for next month, and take shots at 50NL at the end of September. Here is my lifetime garph.

And to top it all off, today is my 19th birthday, and I plan on celebrating being alive for 19 years, and reaching my first $1k. Not a huge achievement, granted, but **** the haters, I got further than most of the newbies.

tl;dr / cliffs;
  • Started playing teh Pokerz seriously on 22nd Feb, 6 months ago today.
  • Withdrew my roll twice as a 5NL player, so did a sick amount of hands there.
  • Quickly moved from 2NL, to 5NL, to 10NL, and to 25NL.
  • Today is my mutha****ing birthday, 22nd August (I'm from UK, beat?)
  • Made my first $1k ... on my mutha****ing birthday!
  • Lifetime giraffes ITT.

BBV;
Beat: 98k hands at 5NL.
Beat: Found 5NL easier than 2NL.
Brag: It's my birthday today!
Brag: Made my first $1k!
Variance: Ran sick bad at 10NL and 25NL when I moved up.
Variance: Cheeseburger stakes.

What does your 25 NL graph look like and how much is your bank roll for this level?

How soon will you be moving up to 50 NL?

Good work ethic so far, take that and keep improving your game and you are going to do very well.

Best of luck and Happy Birthday!

25NL is graph is very swingy, here it is.

Bankroll is now $758.

Will take some shots at the end of September if all goes to plan, or when I have $1k in the teh roll, I'd like to have a decent WR at 25NL though first.

Thank you, and Thank you.

Question should be; why would you ever stay at SkyPoker? No rakeback, no VIP system, not much traffic outside UK, **** software, not HEM compatible, the list goes on.

The freerolls are good though, I remember grinding them for 'fun' some weeks in my early days.

I barely knew the hand rankings myself, I guess I fitted right in. Meh, if they did some kind of RB deal I'd check it out again for sure.

Actually, come to think of it, I guess it'd be extremely soft for the fact that most people are there for the betting and casino, I guess I could move some of my roll over there and clear a quick bonus and see what it's like, probably ain't a bad idea tbh.

Do you still play over there?

Yeh, but the fact i just posted how soft it was on the biggest poker site in the world might have just killed it.
