A few nights ago, I was playing 2-5 NLHE at Encore. There was an older gentleman (I'd guess around age 70) at my table who has a fairly heavy accent and appears to be of Greek or eastern Mediterranean descent. He plays cards at Encore several nights a week, knows most of the dealers, floor staff, and masseuses by name, and does his best to make sure everyone knows it. I say this primarily to illustrate two points: 1) he's not new to poker and 2) he's a bit obnoxious.

After being card dead for a while, I pick up 66 in the cutoff and open the pot with a small raise (this table was playing more like 1-3 than 2-5). It's folded around to him in the SB and he calls. The flop comes 6-3-3 rainbow. He bets into me for half the pot, and I put in about a 2.3x raise hoping build the pot without scaring him off. Mind you, he'd been playing about 40% of hands at a full table. I'm hoping he comes over the top with A6 (I'd seen him do it with TPTK at least once already) or any 3 in his hand, but he just calls. Turn is a 9 and puts a flush draw on the board. I don't think he's drawing to either of the straights here, as I'm putting him on A3 at this point, but the flush draw may have, in his mind, improved his hand if he has A3s. He checks, and I bet $50 which was around 60% of the pot. He calls. River is a 2, and the flush missed. Now I'm going to Valuetown. I bet $65.

Here's where it gets interesting. He sits and stares at my bet for several seconds. He looks at his cards. He then slowly starts counting out his chips. Next, he asks the dealer how much the bet is, and the dealer tells him $65. He then counts his chips again. Slowly. Now he looks at me and says "$65? How'd you know that's exactly how much I have left?!" (I didn't know that's exactly what he had. I probably should've, but I didn't.) He looks at his cards again. He looks at my bet. He looks at me. He counts his chips AGAIN. Now, a solid 2 minutes has gone by at this point, and I can't emphasize enough how much I'm NOT exaggerating that. Everyone at the table was starting to squirm around, wondering what was taking this guy so long to call or fold.

All of the sudden, and in one very dramatic motion, he pushes his chips in, flips his cards face-up and gleefully announces "I call!". I look down, and he's showing 33. He flopped quads.

I couldn't help my reaction. I laughed out loud a little bit. I looked around the table and everyone's jaws were resting on the table, mouths wide open. No one could believe what just happen. The dealer says "I've been dealing for 10 years, and that's absolutely the worst slow-roll I've ever seen." I'm a pretty laid back guy, and I'm not one to berate players at the poker table. And this old guy was so ridiculous - like a cartoon character - that I couldn't be angry. All I could do was laugh it off.

You ain't gonna be the next J K Rowling with stories like that OP. Strong MTT gimmick vibe.

If I had to choose between falling on a knife and reading this garbage I would hesitate.

Sure, when a guy who's been playing wild all night donkbets a flop where I was preflop raise, I'm going to raise with top boat on the flop because he'd get it in here with AA-77, AK, AQ, A6, and 45. So...thanks for your comment I guess?

Yeah, probably not the worst idea. Wasn't saying I played GTO or anything, just funny how long the old man took to call and turn his hand over with the stone cold nuts lol

Cliffs: OP lost like $100 and made a thread about it. I want the minute back of my life that you slowrolled from me OP. If I ever see you at the tables I was do a Shaun Deeb slowroll on you. The whole table except you will know that I'm doing it and we will all laugh our arses off. Enjoy.

That's not a slow roll you sook.

Yo three nuts, try not to get so heat-up by big time players splashing around in your kiddie game, maybe just stay out of the table captains pots altogether (particularly those of Greek/middle-eastern descent).

Also, folding the turn seems optimal or "GTO" rather.
