Man, I see where this argument is going and it sucks. If veganmav wants to battle oppressive corporations and help the environment by leaving a smaller eco-footprint, then so be it. I commend that attitude, but even further, I commend him actually DOING it. People are mostly idealists at heart, but few of us actually make an attempt to live out those ideals. Saying veganmav is a jerk or whatever because he isn't giving away all his poker profit to the starving kids or whomever is ludicrous. I would even venture to say he has bigger plans down the road on what to do with his profits because he seems like that kind of guy. GL vegan.

yes it is picky, that is why I am now freegan not vegan.
orignaly the vegan thing was more because I didn't want to support the monstrous aggrobusiness that is so inefficenet and wasteful, and if you are buying your food, it is much more efficent to live on a plant based diet.

3. Why don't you use some of your poker money to help people back home, and then spend a little on yourself, instead of saving it all up and not doing anything with it for fear of feeling guilty?

It would have been impossible to move up if I had given much more away then I did up until this point.

thanks a lot, and yes, i have huge plans.

Right now in the state of oaxaca mexico, there are several indigenous tribes living there (of whom 1 tribe I am 1/4 blood) who are self sufficient communities. Many of these tribes dont speak spanish, and live on their own, and are on the brink of dying out for several reasons. Many of them have had their agriculture be destroyed for some reason or another, but some of them specificaly need to get water to crops, better irrigation. Some others need to pay to keep owning the land that is naturaly theres, but the Mexican governement wants to take it away.

Many groups give food to the hungry.

I want to help these tribes keep being self sustaining, some of them just need enough money to buy the land, or fix their irrigation, and they can go on living in peace on their own. Some tribes have already died out.

If I can give one time contributions, of 10k, 20k, 50k, 100k etc, it can allow them to keep living on their own.

THe old give a man a fish he eats for a day thing.

This seems like the best way to help the most people.
Currently many of these people are starving.

That is my plan.

as I said above, I am already giving a lot of my money away, to my family and friends in Mexico. I am also trying to make the +EV play of keeping a bankroll so i can move up stakes so I can help more people, while at the same time satisfying my conscience by giving what I can for now. FWIW I have probably given over 20% of my poker winnings to others and spent less than 5% on myself, and saved almost all the rest.
