Thats not it at all.....I have played since 03, read and re-read my poker books over and over, had about 800K hands on my first PT when pc blew up....luckily I have the losing hand in a text file of almost every tournament or SNG i have ever played (over 700 pages) and even recently went through every one to see how I would play the hand now, 6-7-8 years later....
I have not posted here a ton but have been reading this site's posts for quite a few years...although I am learning the in-depth PT stats since I really only used it for my play recently. Every tournament I played from Truepoker to FT to Party to PStars is logged in a notebook with notes on how I did and why I lost. I have 9 of those I fan through often. I read and re-read all 800 or so poker magazines I have and watched everything on TV. I played every form of game they have at various limits and table sizes and dropped 99% of it to stick only with what I think I am good at. (a totally fked notion with no PStars) I am a stat and log freak. So no I dont want any quick win, I just want to play less tournaments for more substantial money. I feel after almost 10 years I entitled myself to that, and I have a once in a marriage (with 2 kids) shot to make something happen with 6 months to do nothing but poker 24/7. So why grind 20-50 $1-$3 trns instead of mostly 11-50's? I lose I go back to work no problem, but I cant convince myself that using that time to grind $100 into $1000 is even worth my while if anything other than recreational.
