when someone grabs a big stack of chips, puts it over the line and then bets a small portion of the chips in his hand. ie: grabs a stack of green, places it over the line without removing his hand, but then brings $400 back. i guess this is more of the casinos fault for not enforcing a pretty common rule. still annoying.
Called a "soft betting line". Nothing to enforce unless they change it to a "hard betting line". Pretty standard procedure to b one or the other(assuming there is a line at all).

Soft betting line should never be a thing, I would literally angle with massive stacks EVERY SINGLE TIME I was making a call. Casinos that allow this are ****ty

christ, we are paying almost $100/hr in rake... if you bet and get called, turn your damn hand over and lets start the next hand.

What ****hole are you playing where the rake is "almost $100 an hour?"

When Villain has like 5% of the pot left in chips and flat calls the turn with the nuts and then you put $50 (as if to put them all in) on the river while the pot is already $600+ and they do the Hollywood disappointed look "ALL IN!" for a whole $4 more. This is the spot you'd fold the second nuts but can't. Not for $4 into $700. This is the time I wish I was the club owner so I could throw out the scum and perma ban him from playing poker. Those are usually nits that make virtually zero GTO mistake in an action filled game.

Technically it's not "in" the casino but the new pay gates at the Bellagio tilt the living **** out of me because apparently 95% of the world is too dumb to figure out how to get in to two lines and put a card in a machine in any sort of reasonable fashion

But in reality anything that involves people lining up or maintaining traffic flow is a cluster **** in a casino

Anything that wastes the time continuum.

Raise PF with AK, 7 callers, 986 flop two-tone none of your tone? Wish I could hit a "skip" button like in the movie Click.

Red lights at 3 in the morning that last 60 seconds and seeing the perpendicular light go yellow-red, only to see the left turn light or pedestrians light go off. I just burn those mother****ers now.

He said "we" are paying.

10 people x $10/hr = $100/hr

Ive peeked at a rake spreadsheet at my local charitable, the 1/2 was all over 100 per hour and on that day the max was 130 with a 10% up to 5 dollars.

There was this guy I played with at 1/2 in Shreveport (and once in a charity tournament) who would make a big production out of patting himself on the back if he made what he thought was a good lay down pre-flop once the flop came and validated that he wouldn't have hit with whatever **** he folded. Like saying out loud "do you see this" as he literally pats himself on the back with one arm.

Poker is just a depressing game. My life quality improved 10000x ever since I barred myself from the local casinos. And with local social events haven't travelled for poker in a while. Life has improved.

Back in the heydays of the mid-2000's and early 2010's it was like printing money. Raise/reraise AK, fold seven deuce, bet top pair 3 streets. I'm just wondering, what happened to all the losers? For us winners who knew ABC theory it was like set-for-life kind. I know so many people in their 20's that put a downpayment for a condo playing 2/5, 5/10 and 10/25 with a little bankroll. Now it's depressing how dead the games are. So what happened to all the losers? They went broke lost their families? Playing against better players is worst than playing blackjack or roulette.

I think they got tilted over nothing and quit the game.

The economy taking a **** in 2008 hasn't helped anything, and the recovery hasn't been all that great. The lack of advertising on TV or the internet for the big easy to play sites has stopped drawing new players to the game and makes finding fresh fish rarer.

But there are still plenty of really terrible players out there giving their money away every day. And it's still almost as easy to take it from them if you're paying attention.

Listen, here's the thing. If you can't spot the sucker in the first half hour at the table, then you ARE the sucker.

People charging me resort fees tilts me. No, I don't want a newspaper or access to the gym/business center. No, I don't need the wifi in my hotel room. Just take the $30/might off my bill and I'll stay twice as long and buy twice as much overpriced food/drinks while gambling.

Where are you playing where they *don't* rake 10%?

Every room I've seen in the US is 10% up to some cap. Cap is between $4 at the best places, and $6 at the worst. Some also have a $1 or $2 BBJ drop for promotions.

So on a $20 pot you *might* get hit with 20% in a BBJ room with $2 drop, but on a $200 pot you'll only be hit for maybe $7 or 3.5%, or less.

I work at a casino in Alberta, and have been to like 5 or 6 other poker rooms here. It's all 5% capped at $5.
