First post, so thought I'd go with something I just had to laugh off a few weeks ago. Visiting MTL and playing Playground for the first time (great experience btw!), last high hand of the night for $1k. 15-minutes left in the promotion, I flop quad sixes and am in the driver's seat, take a nice pot off my opponent, while grabbing the current top spot in the room. Now, I know quad sixes are vulnerable, especially with so many active tables and the dealers scrambling to get as many hands in during the final stretch, so I'm not getting my hopes up. But then 15 minutes is 10 minutes, and 10 becomes 5. I consider going outside for a smoke because I'm thinking "kill some time," but then chide myself for acting anxious and stay in my seat. Playground is a cool set-up too, because each table has these little lights about two feet over the back of the dealer seats to flag the floor, and from my view at the edge of the room, I can see them all. The clock is at 3 minutes and I'm starting to sweat a little bit. (Tbh, $1k may not seem like a ton, but I could use the money, so the thoughts are creeping in about how nice this little bonus will be). Meanwhile, I begin playing stupid tricks to make the time appear faster. I put a song on that I know will run just past the remaining clock, I open my stopwatch app and hit GO, then watch the seconds tick by, one by one. I scan the room, no lights yet, and we're at the final minute. The guy to my right winks and flashes a thumbs-up. My heart kicks into a higher gear and with 30 seconds left, I'm pretty confident it's all but done. The dealer at my table states, "Looks like we've got time for one more," and I'm thinking how sick it would be if someone to my left or right takes the high hand off me, but the flop is weak and I know there's little chance. On the wall, the clock reaches 12 seconds, 11, 10...and then there's commotion across the room, the last thing I want to hear, and in the distance, a little red light flashes on. Busted. Quad Queens with an Ace kicker. 10 SECONDS TO GO!

I take a sip of my beer and smile it off. Time for that smoke.

Had a queen high straight flush with last deal happening and it got beat twice. I thought they were joking. Nope.
