I'm currently in the middle of a brutal downswing. Fortunately I only play small stakes, and I don't play full-time, so it isn't affecting me too much, but its still a kick in the nuts.
Let me talk you through my night...
First, I head to my local pub game. First hand I'm in the BB with 56s, 4 callers and I check to the flop. Flop comes 669r. I end up losing 1/2 my stack against K6.
Another 10 minutes go by and I get JJ in the CO, folds all round, I raise 3x.. BB jams, I call. BB flips 1010, flops a set. I'm out.
Figure I'll go check out the Casino, theres a cheap £15 tourney going on with a £500 gtd and only 25 runners so I sit down and drum up a nice stack. We get to the final table and 3 hands in I get dealt KK. To my delight, the chip leader at the table, who's very LAG, jams from MP. I snap call, everyone else folds. He flips 55, 4-1 underdog to my mighty KK.
Then the following ****storm ensued:
The guy to my right, nice chap, summed it up with a nice shake of the hand, thanked me for my time and simply said "that's poker".
I should have just went home, but I then proceeded to head down to the cash table where there was a game of £1/£1 going on and donated all my chips in about 10 minutes.
