I'm currently in the middle of a brutal downswing. Fortunately I only play small stakes, and I don't play full-time, so it isn't affecting me too much, but its still a kick in the nuts.

Let me talk you through my night...

First, I head to my local pub game. First hand I'm in the BB with 56s, 4 callers and I check to the flop. Flop comes 669r. I end up losing 1/2 my stack against K6.

Another 10 minutes go by and I get JJ in the CO, folds all round, I raise 3x.. BB jams, I call. BB flips 1010, flops a set. I'm out.

Figure I'll go check out the Casino, theres a cheap £15 tourney going on with a £500 gtd and only 25 runners so I sit down and drum up a nice stack. We get to the final table and 3 hands in I get dealt KK. To my delight, the chip leader at the table, who's very LAG, jams from MP. I snap call, everyone else folds. He flips 55, 4-1 underdog to my mighty KK.

Then the following ****storm ensued:

The guy to my right, nice chap, summed it up with a nice shake of the hand, thanked me for my time and simply said "that's poker".

I should have just went home, but I then proceeded to head down to the cash table where there was a game of £1/£1 going on and donated all my chips in about 10 minutes.

/rant.

Your mistake was not losing all your chips with your 65.

OP, you are a dumbass. If i am in the middle of a downswing, i just skip the next 50% hands i'd normally play and then just continue when the upswong starts. Ldo

Agree'd, but it was a local pub game, more of a social that a proper game and it was the first hand, plus I had a full pint sitting there.

So the insult wasn't really necessary and I honestly can't work out if you're serious here. Surely when in a downswing, the options are to either persevere or assess whether you're actually playing bad Poker. I'm making the right calls, I'm just getting unlucky. To actually adjust your opening range, with the intention of going back to how it was after the downswing starts seems like pretty bad advice.

Haha, so I guess you can't really call it a downswing, just a rant at being on the receiving end of a badbeat multiple times in a night.

This is also the annoying nature of the variance of MTT's. Had this been a cash game, I've have been upset at the suckout, but would've simply re-loaded and have hope that he'd make the same play again, but in an MTT, you don't have that privilege.

You joined 4 years ago and still don't know how BBV works.

Ban op imo.

Of course I understand it. This thread was merely created as a rant and an opportunity for others to come along and share in my misery.

Really feeling the love of the community here, so glad I decided to start posting.

should have folded the river. with 4 cards to a straight, its likely he has that.

I know no strat in BBV, but a straight beats a pair.

No brainer to fold the river but I sadly didn't have that luxury, it was aipf.

OP, I am so tired of people coming to BBV for advice and then just casting it aside. THIS is why you always lose. Don't expect it to change. It is obvious you just want sympathy, you have no desire to learn. Well, the Crybaby section is to the left, take the stairs.

You take a picture of a $15 donkament with a first prize that isn't even enough to pay your sister and you take all this time to make a whiny thread about it?

Steady on mate, I think you got the wrong of the stick here.

I am always looking to improve my game wherever I can and I take any advice I can get, in absolutely no way was any advice cast aside here.

My previous comment was in agreement with the previous poster, it would never have been all in had the cards rolled out that way but I clearly stated that it was all in preflop in the opening post.

I posted this thread not for sympathy but for a bit of a laugh. Poker is an absolute rollercoaster and I enjoy sharing these bad beats with other players so that we can all laugh together.

Why would I look for sympathy here when variance itself dictates what I would win this 80% of the time.

No whining involved, it was merely for good humour, which is obviously missed on most of you. Tell me, what kind of satisfaction do you get from commenting like that, referring to my sister as a whore? If we were to meet in the street would you say the same thing?

It's funny that you immediately assume that by accepting payments your sister is a whore. Maybe that is because you know more than I do but I never referred to her as a whore.

Nice one, you win the biggest troll of the day.

If you said anything remotely like that to my face, I'd rip your ****ing spine out.

Nice repping of the 2p2 community. Prick.
