Solving this would be a pretty interesting fluid dynamics problem but it would require that you solve a differential equation. The drag coefficient depends on ball diameter, speed, and the reynolds number if I recall correctly, and the reynolds number depends on atmospheric pressure and temperature and speed. Then you have to factor in the spin of the ball which matters a LOT as it can generate quite a bit of lift and reduce drag at the same time. Then you have to figure out the optimal angle to throw because it's not gonna be 45 degrees like it would be in a frictionless environment.

If I had my fluids textbook with me I might be able to solve it, but I'm pretty sure you're good and screwed.

i think that without a target 100 yards in the air, you wont be able to tell how far you threw it up in the air even if you time it and do some physics. Fractions of seconds are vital.

RESULTS:

I lost the prop bet. I could not throw the ball 100 yds on the fly. Sorry for the guys who had money on me, I feel your pain

I threw the ball 87 yds on the first attempt

81 and 82ish on the 2nd and third. I could throw the ball 60 yards with ease but as the distance got father and farther away it seemed to get exponentially harder. The entire time i had a very light tailwind.

After the bet was over I attempted a few more times and was able to get it up to 93yds. I tried throwing at all different angles.

I feel that if i has thrown a ball around alot more in the past year it could have been easily done. I hadnt really throw hard in about 2 years. Any solid baseball player that has been regularly throwing should be able to do this.

And yes in the video I am wearing jorts and am shirtless. which was another addition we made to the bet as a $50 side bet

The video is taken place in the parking lot where the michigan marching band practices to it has all accurate yard markers. They are visible in the video.
