The title here is pretty much self-explanatory. I plan to conduct a study to determine how often average players "run-bad". By "running bad" I mean days where no matter what cards you are dealt and no matter what flop comes up you will still loose.

I'm curious to know how often these "running-bad situations" where "you just can't win for days at a time" happen to other players.

The more data points I can collect the more accurate the results will be so please vote! I plan on running a regression & normal distribution analysis on the data collected. And will publish my findings publicly for all members of two+two forums to view. I hope this can help us all to get a better grasp of the workings of variance (a.k.a running bad).

In the spirit of conducting this study i would appreciate if as many contributors as possible could answer the following questions:

1. How often do you run bad?*
2. How long do your bad runs last for?*
3. How often do you play poker?*

*Approximations / Averages are perfectly fine.


I myself have noticed that I run bad approximately once every 2 weeks on average, and my bad runs will last approximately 48hrs. I play poker 4-5hrs every day.

ummmm..... i run bad about as often as I run good.

here's something to consider, if you get your money in with the best hand more often than not, like most good players do, you are bound to get "unlucky" more than you get lucky.

Christ Baresnacker, the semantics of your post leave me wondering; are you just saying that those who play "good" suckout less?
