For personal reasons, I made a brand new account to post the story and deliberately hid my starting point and destination for privacy. I've been a member of this forum since 2009, I read the forum a lot but I rarely post.

I have studied this game like an obsession, and I always believed I could do something like this, but I never had the opportunity.

Some of my poker weaknesses are bet sizing, and if I play longer than 9 or 10 hours I am likely to do something really stupid. My first week in my new city I lost and good size pot when I flopped two pair, and made small bets to keep him in the pot. My thought process was that it wasn't likely he hit the flop. He rivered a straight because I let him get there. I am now reading SplitSuit's book on pot geometry. I sometimes lose track of the pot size because I am not quite adjusted to live play yet. (evidenced by my mistake in Tulsa.)

I also lost an $800 pot with 67 on a 77x very wet board. (happened two weeks ago at the tail end of a 13 hour session.) Flush and straight draws all completed, and I knew I was beat because my opponent was not the type to get it all in with a weaker hand. He flopped a boat. I'm the one who lead every betting round, and I put him all in. I have since limited my sessions to 8 hours maximum.

My strengths include very good tilt control, honest assessment of my game play, (three days ago I had a winning session, that really should have been a $300 loss. I was upset with myself, and had to rack up a couple orbits later) and very good bankroll management. This is the result of living in desperate poverty for several years, with no safety net (family, etc).

If I lost my $200 ATM withdrawal in that first session, I definitely would not have risked any more.

I'm also going to start recording hours played and profits on pokerdominator starting with the first of August. I'll open a goals thread at the end of next week so you can see how I'm doing. Thanks for all the positive posts everyone.

Nice thread, OP. I'm glad you ran well at the start, but beware the variance monster.

Prepare yourself for the other side of variance, its not going to be fun. Given your roll i would try and get a 20+ hour a week job to soften the blow and regulate your income until you are fulky rolled

Well fellas, considering that today (yesterday?) is/was my last unrecorded day at the tables, I think I'll just post a few comments here. (I'm a little buzzed)

I took it up the ass 3 times with AA. Ok, well maybe not... but those were my best legit hands today... I flopped no sets, nut straights or flushes or anything. I folded AA 3 times on ridonkulous (real word?) boards. My only wins were air bluffs, but I guess I'm pretty good at it because I finished +$381.

Anyway, my table was pretty sweet. I witnessed a hilarious hand. UTG straddles, UTG+1 raises $20, gets two callers, and action comes around to the straddle. He wiggles two fingers over his cards, like he's sprinkling super magic dust on them... takes a peek, and then 3bets to $100. UTG+1 wasn't buying his bullshyt, and re-popped it to $600! . The guy on my immediate right (short stack) decided it was a good time to triple up with suited connectors, calls all in. Action comes around to the straddle; he puts it all in and flips AA. UTG+1 flips TT. Board runs out, AA holds up, and the dealer ships $1500 to Mr. Magic-Fingers.

Hey you're right. It was 1-2. Tiny (almost irrelevant) details aside, every word is legit. I didn't take notes on hands so this was a tale from memory. I did take very accurate notes on my exact wins/losses for every session.
