Hand #1:

Raise to 3bb from UTG+1, CO calls and I call on button with 85s

Flop is K85 rainbow, checks to me, I raise the pot, UTG+1 checkraises so I push (120bb stack) and both call

UTG+1 has AKs (top pair and 3-flush diamonds), CO has AKo.

Turn and river are two diamond blanks giving UTG+1 the nut flush

Hand #2

I raise 3bb from hijack with KJo, villain calls in BB

flop is KQT rainbow, I bet half pot and villain calls

turn is A completing my nut straight, I bet pot and villain calls (we both now have 1/4 pot behind so completely committed)

river is Q and I shove, villain calls and shows QQ for 4 of a kind

I hate losing money, but these bad beats annoy me less now. When I get a bad beat in a showdown, it proves I'm playing correctly, and I would play these hands exactly the same way again as I'm +EV for both

Lol at the KJ hand and you thinking that was a +EV bad beat. You had by far the worst pre and on the flop. You sucked him off on the turn, and then wait for him to make quads before going all in. Well played.

Thanks I think I need a bit more time working out percentages so I can shove more often, the amount of fold equity at micro stakes helps a little, and it really punishes anyone who tries to draw out

I like to open most hands from the button, but I'll sometimes call with suited connectors/gappers... how would you have played that hand preflop? Do you prefer to fold/raise and keep calling to a minimum?
